O/S Daily Monday 6th November 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly. I'm not convinced DH will stay at work he's better than his was but still really not well, I'm not saying anything else as I've tried and tried over the weekend to get him to go to Dr's and he won't - so I'm leaving him to it. I went out yesterday morning and bought a load of meds - he has them all, so can choose what he needs.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, carrots, broc, peas, yorkshires and gravy - it was lovely. Today dinner will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Over the weekend I worked, then we really didn't do anything, just chilled at home primarily so DH could rest and get better.
Back to work today, I should think it will be quite busy as Monday's are - we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Hope you've all had a good weekend. I had visitors here, we've been friends for years but live 500 miles apart so don't see each other often. It was a really good catch up with much food and drink - too much drink for me, didn't feel at all well yesterday!
Sounds like you are really busy JackieO, hope your DD makes a speedy recovery and Frank is comfortable.
Thinking of you today dumpling, wish I was nearer, could give you a lift to visit your DD.
Work today then catching up with friends for an early dinner, washing all up to date, just need to iron a few bits later.
Happy Monday. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
It’s Monday so that means I’m trekking to Dunoon later this afternoon again. Every Monday I regret agreeing to taking this class.
Anyway , up early in the expectation that the TV installation man comes to me first. The downstairs TV only gets one signal from the Freesat dish rather than two.
I’ll still be finishing off the sausage dish. All is well in my world, I wish the same to everyone else.
Happy Monday.0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Dumpling I’ll be thinking of you all and Becky today xx
It’s a really cold start to the morning here, but it is forecast to be sunny later, if it is I will probably go for a walk this afternoon.
I really enjoyed my lunch out yesterday, and catching up with friends. It was good to laugh and hear what has been going on for them.
Today I must give the bathroom a really good clean, and do the tiles in there. It is one job that I put off, it is up there with my dislike for ironing.
My bedding needs washing as well, so I will get that into the wm shortly. There isn’t any rain forecast for today so I may at least get it partially dry outside.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Sharp frost here this morning and very chlly the heating has kicked in this morning and it was set on 18 so it must be cold in here, its nice to have it on though rooms are nice and cosy.
Finally went food shopping yesterday so the cupboards are no longer bare, we did spend quite a lot but the store cupboards were very run down.
Dinner tonight will be either pizza and salad or spag bol or chlli will see what we feel like later on.
Dumpling good luck for you and Becky today its going to be hard for the both of you but will hopefully help in the long run xx
Have good days all xxx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the start. Brr it's a cold and frosty start here. There's also a bit of fog/mist rolling in. CH is on to take the early chill off but then I'll revert to the fire.
We have the job of putting all the caravan stuff (bedding & bed linen, towels, clothes etc) up in the loft today till needed again in the spring. DD finally got all her stuff washed and bagged up and dropped them off yesterday. The landing is awash with storage bags. (Btw If anyone is on the lookout for big storage bags DD got some really pretty ones from Home Bargains. Plenty big enough for duvets etc.)
Lots of w/e leftovers to eat up today so not much cooking to be done. A big bowl of mashed potatoes and some beef casserole will be warmed up for tonight's dinner. Nice 'n easy.
Have a nice day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) to everyone needing and wanting them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
dumpling Thinking of you today xx
dp1 Yes I'm worried about having no top teeth too, but don't really know why :undecided I have two bridges (they feel like normal teeth, I forget they're there!) and a partial denture. A tooth fell out just over a week ago and two more are loose. So a new denture is being made to include those, plus my other front tooth which will be fine for a while but the dentist said that although it looks OK, including that in the treatment will make my front teeth look perfectTold him I don't want one of those ridiculously perfect Hollywood smiles, they just look daft, lol. I'd persuaded myself to have all the top teeth out, but when I got to the appointment (check-up) I couldn't face it and now we have a plan to do things gradually.
Hope your dad is feeling OK xx
LameWolf That was reassuring, thank you xx I have glue for the partial I have now but I don't like it so don't use it, I'm hoping it'll be the same when I have all the teeth out.
Oh, and don't you both find it so much easier to clean your teeth when they're not in your mouth?
Just normal fireworks last night, Scampi started to get wound up but calmed down when he realised there were no huge booming noises and light explosions. Wish they'd ban noisy ones from gardens altogether, listening to little Betty Pug next door get upset is heartbreaking.
I use my laptop in two places in the house. The battery only lasts about 20 minutes now so I have to use the power lead all the time. Doesn't sound like a big deal, taking it from one room to the other, but I'm mostly in the kitchen and the lead is wound neatly and tucked away (I hate trailing leads!) and it's a faff to keep putting it back properly. I was going to buy a new battery but leads are around a third of the price so I'll order one of those instead. Just need to find somewhere to tuck it away neatly in the lounge
I have october's accounts to do and a return to submit, that's it for work today. I need to update my own spreadsheets then do the housework – not much, just the hoovering and a load of washing. Then I'm going to attempt to design a pumpkin. If you hear someone swearing in frustration, that'll be me :rotfl:

Good morning all. It was the House Troll's birthday at the weekend so I now have a teenager, gulp. We had quite a few visitors so we were a bit "over-peopled" by Saturday evening and were happy to sit and eat takeaway pizza (his choice) by ourselves.
My leg had the necrotic tissue taken away last Tuesday. It's been very sore since so I'm not sleeping very well. It's now classed as a leg ulcer as it's a wound that has taken longer than 2 weeks to heal. Hmph.
Dumpling my friend's son went into residential for a couple of weeks just before Christmas last year. He's been really well ever since which is great. I hope Becky has the same kind of result. I'll be thinking of you both today.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Hubby is on lates again this week so I'm still in bed waiting for the heating to take the chill off before I make a cuppa.
I shall go to buy some coal when I've dropped hubby at work and then come back and do some financial planning, sou ds posh but actually I just need to list how much of what we need to buy for the next three months, coal, diesel etc.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
I've got Little Miss for a couple of hours this morning. I haven't seen her for three weeks. Can't wait to see how much she's grown.
Dumpling, thinking of you and Becky today. She will be home before you know it.
Onwards and forwards
