John Lewis partnership card

Does anyone know how long John Lewis finance take to decide an application for a partnership card?
I applied online last week (29/10) and when I checked today it still gave the message that they are considering my application.
How long should I leave it before calling them? I have no reason to believe I may be rejected.

I think they have a poor application process online. I applied and called them to check for an update. It hadn't actually been processed as they needed more information from me (but didn't bother telling me). I had to give further information to them over the phone, after which they considered/processed the application and rejected me (which I have sent an appeal for).0

Same here; I applied for a Partnership Card for my husband yesterday and received the same message that they were “considering” the application and would let us know if they needed more information.
As it’s the weekend, I assume that they’re taking their time over it; before I applied I did read quite a few bad reviews for their customer services on line, very slow and inefficient etc., so I’m not really surprised. I dare say if I chase them next week and make a fuss, we’ll probably get the card sorted; I’m not sure I can be ar$$ed to bother, as we really only want the card as we do quite a lot of our shopping at Waitrose and the extra points and the £20 would be useful.
If they’re going to be difficult, I shan’t bother (I certainly won’t be grovelling for the privilege of one of their cards!)
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.0 -
Thanks - I think I will give them a call tomorrow. Like you, Missus Hyde, I am not overly fussed if I am rejected - it would be nice to have though considering how much I spend with them.Saving for an early retirement!0

It's a credit card which earns points which you receive in John Lewis Waitrose vouchers.0

Yes it's actually run by HSBC, who presumably use the John Lewis brand name under some sort of financial arrangement. Of late they seem to have been referring to themselves as John Lewis Finance, but still HSBC seems to be involved. I think it was originally operated by HFC Bank, which was acquired by HSBC some years ago (but I may be wrong about that).0 -
Just got approved for the card, they're really slow to respond. It took around a week with absolutely no updates other than the email to say they'd reached a decision (doesn't actually tell you whether or not you've been approved in the email, you have to go back to the tracking site).0

A little update:
Also approved for the card, without the necessity of chasing them up. It was the same long winded procedure as Jibeddy describes; quite why it’s necessary for John Lewis Finance to adopt such a cloak and dagger approach, I can’t imagine and they are a bit coy on their website about finding the details for setting up the direct debit, but hopefully I’ve got the thing sorted (including an additional card for me) so fingers crossed it should be plain sailing now.A cunning plan, Baldrick? Still waiting for appeal outcome.
Well done, Jibeddy and Missus Hyde!0
