I'm a bit confused - you're understandably anti-Blackmore, so why would you believe it to be beneficial to consumers to have open threads on it alongside others, with the possibility of shills also posting?

The thread was started by someone asking about it - my assumption would have been that it was locked because of the nature of the product, not because MSE don't want people warning others about the nature of the product?

I'm not anti Blackmore at all, I just want people to be suitably informed and realise the risk there is in any investments they make.

Many of these bonds are now being advertised in the Sunday and daily papers, so direct to retail investors, who don't appreciate the risk of capital loss associated with a higher return. I think the oublic actions certainly bear responsibility in carrying the ads and it will be very interesting to see the responses when one of these vehicles does fail.

I have no problem with risk in investments, the majority of my wealth is in equities. I am a p2p investor and have been contributing to vcts over the last couple of years. I understand the risks I'm taking but my concern is that potential investors in these products don't realise the risk of capital loss.

I don't understand how your post relates to the thread at hand.

I'll accept that no one particularly enjoys receiving legal communications but what was there in the thread to even remotely consider that aspect?

.?? On that strange reasoning no one could ever post a warning or even information about a dubious financial product in case “shills” posted and confused people ? Shills tend to get pretty short shrift here and indeed their posts tend to be counterproductive so I see no need for concern on that account..
You're arguing against something I'm not saying.

What are you saying in this sentence in that case ?(my emphasis)

To quote your conclusion - "on that strange reasoning no one could ever post a warning or even information".

I spoke about whether it was beneficial to consumers to have these threads - in view of an earlier poster questioning the 'MSE code' in relation to posts being locked. I didn't say they should be banned, shills or not.

It'd be good to know the exact reason it was locked - I can't say the "Wow: Blackmores 8.50% interest rate ????" title was particularly balanced to have displayed to everyone viewing as a thread title.

If the first post in the closed thread was genuine then the thread should not have been closed as sensible advice and opinion was being offered. If the first post was in effect an advert then it should have been closed and deleted.

And, there's the rub. What we have (closed) doesn't make sense.

If it was advertisement then simply delete the thread.

If it contained abusive or incorrect posts then delete the posts / PPR (temporarily or otherwise) the posters.
