Duoheat or oil heating

I am thinking of changing to oil heating as there is no gas where we live. but looking at oil prices am i better off with the heating i have got? We have the duo-heat night storage heaters,
the only pro i can see is you can switch the heat on when needed but with storage heating you cant.
but wondering if anyone here had storage heaters and moved over to oil and then wish they stayed on electric, the winter bill what they paid not much difference?

thank you

I'm guessing that installing an oil system will cost you the thick end of £5k and involve you with lots of mess and a big tank in the back garden.

Duoheat are storage heaters and probably about as good as any that are out there. You'll get the benefit of E7 rates for most of of your heating and all your hot water (if you are careful). You can also maximise how much off peak leccy you use by setting stuff like washing machines, dishwashers and tumble dryers to operate during the night.

How long do you reckon it'll take to save the £5k+ to convert to oil. Not saying that you shouldn't but think about it as you'll probably only save 3-4p a kwh, thats around 125,000kwh before you break even. So if you use say, 15,000kwh a year it'll only take you eight years, longer if you use less

makes sense in what you say,
as you say we use all our electrical appliances during the off peak electric and hot water
and the heaters them selves are quite good, warm the house up lovely all day long which is good.

    thanks again
