Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Dumpling, I hope they find a bed for Becky quickly, I know its a difficult decision, but if it helps her to deal with her issues it will be worth it. Re visiting, can your support worker find someone who would take you to visit Becky? There may also be volunteer drivers who might agree to take you for the cost of the fuel? I hope she does not have to wait too long.
Jackie O, hope everything is ok with you and your family.
Dull morning here, waiting for the engineers to service the boiler, supposed to be here before 1pm. I need to have a quick whizz round with the hoover, lots of bits on the carpet. My cleaner starts next Friday, so I can flick a duster round in the mean time.
I have gone a bit mad and bought a quilt binder for my sewing machine, binding is one of the jobs I hate, so even though I am only making smaller stuff these days, if I send a quilt to be machine quilted I still have to bind it when I get it back. It was expensive, so that's my pocket money gone till half way through January.
OH is going to be working on the front garden when he gets out. The new grass has settled in well and will need a cut with the blades raised.
Supper tonight, fish, chips and peas.0 -
Morning all, I am part way through the Friday Tidy with added scrubbing. I've not had much time for the past couple of weeks and it shows.
Dumpling, I know that it will be a wrench and a worry but may help Becky in the long run - the suggestion above about possible sources of transport are good, worth following up. Happy birthday to Steve too.
Best wishes for today Hollyharvey and I'm thinking of JackieO today too. And Speky, with friends moving away and your Dad in the mh unit, though that sounds to be meeting his needs, still a worry for you, I imagine.
The siren call of the scrubbing brush is upon me, I will go and get on a bit. Also on second wash load, is never-ending.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
I have a big box of hugs as it sounds like lots of people are in need of one,Holly ,dumpling ,JackieO and Speky to name a few.
Not much news from me,only the boring kind:D The men still have little work, just odd bits here and there. The coffers are very low and so are the cupboard and freezer stocks ,In 40 odd years of being in the building business I don't recall it being as bad. They do have an extension booked in for after Christmas but thats a good while off,and another job they were due to start imminently, they are being stalled and messed about with ,but I think my cousin wants something doing next week :j.Anyway enough of my moans,I need to put the bmaker on.I made a spicy fruit loaf in it yesterday, luckily I do have lots of flour.
TA- I sympathise with your mess,3 men and 2 DGC can make a fair bit here too,its like the Forth Bridge.
Better get on xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Speky the NHS Trust I worked for had two ABI units within their MH sites, very caring and supportive staff made them both calm and content places.
Dumpling fingers crossed a place in a unit near to you can be found soon - although I know they are few & far between with high demand. Becky will be well looked after, given lots of help and has lots of love from her family to support her.
Holly thumbs up to your supportive GO, hope he gets a good result later

Good morning.
Oh Dumpling, it's so hard. My daughter wasn't taken in in April as there were no beds for 400 miles. Touch wood, she's not been admitted. She does see councillors and has given up her a level course and started a Btec that she enjoys more. Best wishes to you and your daughter Dumpling. You are in my thoughts. If you ever need to chat, do message me.
Small has had a 2 week half term. He hates leaving the house. (He's autistic, amongst other disabilities). I managed to get him into Asda this morning. He ran away when we 1st entered the shop, but he calmed down & happily chose some apples, am advent calendar & some crisps. And I was able to get the few bits I needed. I felt so stressed though. He is back to school on Monday. He needs his routine back.
I'm going to try to hoover later when eldest is home. Small hates the Hoover, but I'm hoping Small can go upstairs to eldest room so I can hoover the living room.
Making spaghetti bolognaise for dinner tonight. Most will eat that. I think middle will have fish & chips though. I will offfer him bolognaise though. One day he may eat it. I live in hope. He eats some veg now.
I need to get on now.
Best wishes everyone

Afternoon all
My goodness so many people on here with problems, makes mine seem insignificant. Anyway I have no advice to give, just love and support in buckets, full to anyone who needs or wants it. Good luck to Holly for this afternoon and Dumpling I'm sure you will make the right decision for your family.
Plus happy birthday to Steve. :bdaycake:
This morning is dry but it is getting foggier by the minute. We managed to get the hedge trimmed and the garden tidied in the front, then set about unearthing our heating / hot water pump. It's located in the spare bedroom and I have a plastic tower unit in front of the airing cupboard door. Moved that and while Mr Fix It checked the pump for serial numbers etc, I decided to empty the unit. Big mistake ! It's full of craft stuff but somehow it's all mixed up, I'm going to blame the DGD :rotfl:. So now the Easter and Xmas stuff are separated and my cards and envelopes are together. Unfortunately now the shelves need sorting too, so that's a job for this afternoon, along with a bit of ironing. There's not much ironing but I have been putting it off for a while.
Next door elderly neighbour rang this morning, luckily Mr Fix It answered. Apparently she was trying to contact the council to report the woman who keeps coming into her house selling flowers. I know her DD went with flowers this week so perhaps that's it. We are getting increasingly concerned for her but we don't know what to do, it should be up to her family to sort it out . We know it's dementia as MiL went the same way, but we never let her get into this state and found a care home for her, where she was pleasantly confused.
Anyway enough waffling because it's lunch time, so I shall prepare myself a snack, I fancy cheese and apple. Tea tonight will be pie and chips, easy peasy then !
Take care all and many hugs.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Afternoon all,
Oh Dumpling sorry to hear about Becky. I'm sure that letting her go will be the best thing for her mental health no matter how much you will miss her.
Watched the clock go round in the early hours of the morning. I went to be bed shattered, woke up 2 hours later and couldnt get back off to sleep. I heard owls hooting at 3am and was still awake at 5am when Youngest went off to work.
Pleased to say ive managed to lose the weight i put on whilst i was away. Not that i ate a lot but it was all the wrong things. Ive ate like a sparrow since i came home, hence the weight loss.
Managed to get more stuff done in the house having Grump(less) at home has been a great help. Two loads of junk has been taken to the tip and as its the last green collection of the year on Thursday of next week, the plan is to give the lawns their last cut before then. Ive trimmed a few straggly branches off the trees and pulled up a few stubborn weeds.
Tea tonight will be anybodys guess. Havent got round to thinking about it yet.
Finally got round to booking an appointment with our GP. Ive been nagging Grump(less) for months to get a mole checked out at the practice but he's finally caved in now its beginning to bleed. Only problem is they cant get him in to see the 'mole doctor' till the 21st... Still, he's put it off this long, whats another couple of weeks?
I'm toying with the idea of weaning myself off my anti depressants again. I dont want to be on them forever and i want to know if i can cope without them. We'll see.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Afternoon all,
Cold here this morning, a little warmer now......got some oil this morning so we can stay warm.
Full complement of 10 souls now here......we were all out for dinner on Wednesday to celebrate DS3s graduation, only 4 diners here last night, everybody tonight so I will cook potatoes and veg for all, steak for OH and me, everyone else can cook their own....I think thats fair.
Big hugs for those who are in trouble, or who are suffering for any reason. My prayers are with you all.

It's been like going back to the Dark Ages here today! Power cut at 10.00 followed by a text off Powergrid saying hoping to have it back on by 12.00. Then a text to say it would take longer than thought and could be 5.00 pm! Then at 3.10 it came back on! It's been a long dismal day with no electric - no coffee, no radio, no lamps on etc. Phone needed charging so plugged it into my laptop to charge from that but that too needed charging! And had to have a cold lunch of sandwiches and crisps! At least we had heat as it's a gas fire!
So today didn't go to plan and the much needed Friday Tidy was a half hearted affair. Going round on my knees with a dustpan and brush wasn't an option!
On a brighter note I think my painful arm/shoulder feels a bit easier at last.
So many needing ((HUGS)) just now. Thinking of you all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Ooh Csarina, I hadn't seen one of those, it might be on my Christmas list.
Dumpling, what a dilemma for you, if I lived closer I'd be happy to provide transport for you.
I had a trip to Kirkby Lonsdale and a bit of a mooch. I saw a beautiful lamp in an antiques shop but it was horrendously expensive. I was looking for a new kagoule but without success. Why do shops think that women who enjoy rambling are all size 14 or less. I think I'll have to go online.0
