O/S Daily Friday 3rd November 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, carrots, broc and gravy, dessert was chocolate trifle - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight will be something easy with chips for the menfolk, I don't know what I fancy.
Yesterday wasn't particularly productive, although I did get the washing basket empty, but that didn't last long - will continue with that until it's empty again. All the washing is dried, had to use the TD unfortunately but it's ready to be ironed so that's a job for today. I did get the menu plan done and shopping list, also did the jobs in town and spent all morning at the work training session - so whilst not greatly productive I was doing stuff.
So on to today -
I'll be going to do the food shopping first thing, will get that unpacked and put away, then tackle the ironing and run the hoover over and the duster. I have some jobs to do on the pc, which I'll do once I've posted this.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another mild and dry start here, we really are getting spoiled!
Yesterday's appointment for the Oncology clinic in Leeds was how it should be - running to time. It gave me chance for a bit of bargain spotting on Leeds market before heading for the train home. Got quite a few stocking fillers for next to nothing from the indoor stall that sells surplus stock off and 6 massive red peppers from the outdoor F & V section for £1. They are earmarked for making my favourite soup later today.
Once the DGDs have been dispatched to school I have the pleasure of the Friday clean. I don't know where to start as everywhere looks such a mess. I wouldn't care if it was my mess but it isn't!
Have a good day folks if you can. Thinking of JACKIE and DUMPLING and hope today isn;t as worrying as expected for HOLLYH. ((HUGS)) for anyone else in need. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
A cold start here this morning it really feels like winter has arrived now.
I had a lovely dinner yesterday a lovely shepherd’s pie made by a neighbour. It was nice to just have to do some veg to go with it, so nice and easy.
This morning I have to go into town to collect some shoes I ordered, and will pick up some veg on my way back. I want to get the bedding changed if I have time, if not it will wait until tomorrow.
I have my care meeting this afternoon. I’m hoping that with all of the people treating me we will be able to get some sort of joined up plan put together. At the moment there are two separate teams, and they don’t seem to talk. My GP is as frustrated as I am with the situation, and he is hopeful that something will get sorted today. With a bit of luck he will do all the talking for me.
I can hear the kettle calling, so have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's another dry day here this morning. Steve is home today as it is his birthday. The girls are either asleep or getting ready for school/college.
Becky's psychiatrist came to the house to see her yesterday and basically she wants Becky to go into hospital for four weeks for in-patient treatment. Unfortunately there is no mental health unit for young people anywhere near us so it would mean her going miles away and we have no car so visiting would be very difficult. Becky wants to go but I feel absolutely heart broken about the whole situation. Obviously we have to wait for a bed to be available so it could be anytime from today to a few weeks away.
There is not much old styling going on here I am afraid. I will need to have a tidy up as we have more people coming today to talk to Becky.I also contacted a handy man to come and repair the wall in our kitchen from where we had the boiler removed earlier in the year. I hope his quote will be reasonable as it does look like a horrible mess at the moment. I was going out to lunch with Steve today but that has been put on hold for a few days until we know what is happening with Becky.
Holly, you are in my thoughts. I know how frustrating it can be to get joined up care so I hope this meeting will be very productive and you won't be too intimidated by the whole process. Offering you a hand to hold xx
TravellingAbuela, glad you had a good day yesterday and the appointment went well. I do envy you your trips to the market for bargains, we don't have anything like that around here. Hope Mr TA is feeling ok after his treatment xx
JackieO, if you are reading this I hope you know that we are all missing you and hope everything is ok. Sending you and your family loads of hugs xx
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning all
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Managed to get the bathroom light working, only needed the round tube replacing.
Woken up at silly o'clock by intruder alarm bleeping, can't reset so something else to get fixed.
Wonder what else will break today
hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -

Thanks for your thoughts about today’s meeting, My GP is really good and told me earlier in the week that he will be advocating for me, and will sit me next to him so hopefully it won’t be too intimidating.
I’ll be thinking of you and your family (hugs) xx0 -
Morning all

Off to Glasgow this morning for a work training tomorrow its a real motivational day so I am hoping to come away with a fresh start mentality ...Im normally really positive but a good few knocks over the last months have chipped away at it. Not one to lie down and moan though I am on my way back and tomorrow will help lots i'm sure:T If nothing else it will really p*s* a couple of ex friends off who assisted in my horrible year :rotfl:
Coronation chicken and seafood cocktail barm cakes for the journey :j that should guarantee a few spare seats around meMeeting up with friends this evening for dinner which will be fun I love Glasgow and the only problem will be agreeing what type of food to eat
Right best get the packing and the pack up done
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
I too feel for you DUMPLING. It's a big decision to make and I don't envy you. xx
Re markets - yes we like our markets up north! Sadly we don't have one of our own (well we do have an indoor one but it's not very bargainous and I rarely go in!) so it means a trip out for our bargain spotting! I love me bargains!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Sorry Nelski, but it's overcast now. I tried my best. Safe travels.
Yesterday I visited my mum and we had steak and chips. Lovely. I helped her update her phone software and other bits and bobs. My step-dad got a text from my step-bro last night to say that his wife wants to move home to Korea with their new baby daughter saying she's suffering from home sickness and postnatal depression. Not sure what to think of it all.
Anyway. Tomorrow my friend leaves to go back to NZ for a couple of years, so we're going for dinner tonight. I'm working tomorrow so it shant be a mad one.
redruby - meatballs and wine. A lovely combination. Enjoy!
Dumpling - Long story short, my dad is in a mental health unit after suffering brain damage from an unprovoked attack. The unit take care of him full time and they're great. Of course, I was apprehensive/worried/upset from the beginning but the nurses are worth their weight in gold and I've became accustomed to it. I hope it all works out for you and Becky.0 -
Morning everyone,
Gentle hugs for Dumpling and her family, it's a tough old time for sure but your house always strikes me as being so full of love and you are all there for each other x
Glad to hear that your GP is supportive and very much in your corner Holly positive thoughts for a good outcome.
And an extra hug for dear Speky
Mild and overcast here in East Anglia, am up late as didn't sleep so well and have bad sinus headache. I have a few chores this morning, need to stock up on bird seed and Rosie's food as didn't get it done yesterday. The bed and the towels need their Friday change so the WM will chugg away and will TD the towels. Lulu has had a busy few days with physio, lessons and yesterday we went for a long hack so will just give her a good groom today, she loves a pamper
Have a good day folks x0
