Hi everyone.Dusty here,69 yr old grandma with 4 children, plus their partners, and 5 grandkids,a great grandaughter (with another due in March),plus Mr Dusty to sort for Xmas. That's an awful lot of Xmas presents and Xmas food to buy!
So I want to spread my savings over the whole year instead of panicking late in the year whether I'll have enough. So this challenge is ideal,I would love to join you.
Annoyingly my local bank branch closed down and I have to travel 7 miles to the city to put cash into my account. So saving in a pot will be both fun and convenient (until I have to sort it all out next November that is!) :)
I have bags and coins all over the house,so I will collect it all and make a start after New Year's Day.

A VERY warm welcome to you
dustydigger No 012.It's lovely to have you with us. :grinheart Have fun saving and enjoying the banter. You'll find your number (see above) at the bottom of the list on the 3rd post of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings in November, please make a note of this year's date: 1st Nov 2018.

Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away. ;)

*Please pop your number on your sig, it really helps me.

A shiny gold star for you 32b3 with such a lovely welcome. :staradminThanks for helping me out. Very many thanks 32b3, fingers crossed it’ll all be ok.
Haven’t we done well with the Grand Total, I was really chuffed with it!! There should still be at least a couple more to come with luck which might just get us to the 50, time will tell.

Great potting MrsShazbat! Have a wonderful Christmas! :xmassmile

Hello again Traveller93! It’s always so good when folk keep in touch to let us know how they’re doing. You have a wonderful Christmas too!

Oh goodness Sue - I hope you don't resemble too much of a pin cushion. I'm sure you're looking after yourself, but make sure you DO rest.

And what a fantastic amount! Nearly £50,000 of basically little bits of saving here and there. It really does astound me at how the little amounts really do add up.

Doesn’t that sum up SPC perfectly Vickie! :j I couldn’t have chosen a more apt way to describe it. :T Well done with that £1.50!
I don’t know about me resembling a pin cushion - I just hope that to save time they don’t do both procedures in one go - from the mouth straight on down and out tother end!!! Worse still if it’s vice versa!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Excellent work Florence and your OH!! :j
Thank you so much Iheart, me too! Good for you and DD in keeping healthy and well done on the potting front!!! Though...pastries afterwards......?! Excellent!!! :rotfl:You have a wonderful time too!! :xmassmile

    A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS Potters!!!!:xmastree:

  • Hope you are managing to stay positive and enjoy some festivities despite all you have going on Sue.

I had £13 and some odd change leftover yesterday which went straight into my pot. I also found £1 in my swim bag but it was an old one :( it’s in the OH’s mothers bag to take to the bank so who knows if I’ll ever see that again!

    Merry Christmas to all!

  • Hi all,

Can I still join this group?

I know I've missed most of December :D but I'd like to start as well.

Do I need to set a target and if so let it be £1000 (for a holiday :) )

    Thanks
  • Welcome to the thread spiffyiffy. Our leader Sue will give you a number to put on your signature the next time she's in. Please take time to read the first post in the meantime. Happy Christmas to you.

Potting News from me: I've got a nice new pot from Santa as part of my Christmas presents and a £1 coin to start it off. I'll add the other £1s that I've kept in a holding pot over the next few days.

    Merry Christmas to all! :santa2:

  • Merry Christmas to everyone here's hoping everyone has had a lovely day.:santa2:

I would like to rejoin the challenge as I have not been at all proactive this last year. However, things have to change!

I'm looking to mainly earn amazon vouchers through online earnings, plus see how much cash I can save as well. I already have £5 sitting in my amazon account, so that's a great start.

Looking forward to earning lots so that next Christmas will be a lot more fun than this year. :xmassmile

I hope it will be okay to keep my current number.

Afternoon Potterssssssssssssss and Merry Boxing Day to you all :D

I have been a bit AWOL lately as stuff going on, christmas type stuff and the annual 'MUM no laptop AT ALL on christmas day' rule  every year they take it off me! like im on it every day or something! . . oh wait . . . :o

Odd bits of change chucked in the pots over the last week, not really bothered to keep track just chucking it in there as it appears in my purse. Had a lovely christmas day :D parents came, we played games, ate more food than was strictly necessary and generally did not stop laughing all day :D Hopefully you all had an equally fun and stress free day :D

Fab total this year Sue :D hopefully we can beat it come november!

Right I am off to do my boxing day slouching in my chair, watching films, eating left overs and waiting to take himself to the pub (as he always goes out with his mate on boxing day ;) )

Potted 8 shiny £1 coins today and various shiny shrapnel that my dad keeps for me. H has done it since I was a child if he ever gets a shiny coin.

Woo-hoo! Received £35 in amazon gift cards for Xmas.:j
I get most of my books from the library, but often read vintage crime and science fiction which are rare as hen's teeth on library shelves. Fortunately I located a free online source for many of that kind of book but I take part in various reading challenges and sometimes have to buy books. I am quite happy with second hand copies,so these tokens will buy about 8 such books. Through the year as I very frugally buy the books I need for the group challenge,I will put a little money say £2 per book in the sealed pot for each book. I save on the cost of books, and save in my pot too.Win -win situation. :D:D
I have sorted my pots. I have one which was a gift tin of Licorice Alsorts which is like a paint tin,but has a slot for saving money. That will do for coins. I also have my old savings tin from last year which I peeled back a little to extract the change,it will do for notes.
We arrange our finances fortnightly. I think the best option for me will be a sort of zero sum arrangement. Pay all billsetc, then at the end of the fortnight add what is left in the purse to my pot. Its going to be fun!:T

My first little donation........... I usually pay £2.99 for a pack of 4 tea towels. Saw very similar ones in Wilko 50p each, saved £1. In the pot it goes:)
