Car Insurance Is Now Becoming Ridiculous
Comments
-
Yes I'm for real. So this winter, if it "snows, icy etc" is he going to park there again? If he does and someone else barrels into him is it still "ludicrous"?
Yes because he should not suffer financially if it is not his fault, end of.
Why should he not park outside his own house because there's a slim chance someone will hit his car and his premium will go up,that applies to every car owner in the UK.
So where do you suggest all car owners in the UK park their cars if they don't have a driveway or a garage??0 -
I never park my car outside, even if I go in the house a for a few minutes, I put the car away (on my road all be it 30 mph, folk race along it) , if I go to my GF , I park on her frot garden even though her road is not a through road.
No I don't work for insurance, I just don't go around with impunity, irrespective of fault I'd rather read about it happening to somebody else than be filling in forms etc.
So you would be happy, and think it's right, that if somebody hits your car even if you are not in it at the time, you will pay more insurance next year because of that??0 -

Few have a right to park outside their home, when I 1st started owning cars , I parked around the corner on a quieter road a good 100metres or more from where my parents lived.0 -

My last two cars have had hits and on every occasion my following premium went down (the note on the renewal was claim fully recovered or such like).0 -

He's put his car at risk on that occasion. You're aware ice is slippy right? I'd suggest 99.9% of the time right outside his door is fine. But if there's a patch of black ice just behind his rear wing on a corner one night then my suggestion is... Anywhere else?0 -
I have over 25 years NCD and this hasn't affected me personally but it is just a joke that drivers should suffer when it is not their fault and is just a money making ploy by the insurers who are now basically coming up with anything to increase our premiums!!0

So you think they should operate a loss making business?0 -

No,but surely all the costs are paid by the person at faults insurance company and the person not at fault does not pay or suffer financially afterwards, that is right.0 -
And where do you think that the money that the insurance companies pay out comes from?stevepb101 wrote: »No,but surely all the costs are paid by the person at faults insurance company and the person not at fault does not pay or suffer financially afterwards, that is right.
It's from insurance premiums.
If the number of claims and the money paid out goes up on an annual basis then the premiums paid must also go up to cover the cost and it's people who are statistically more of a risk for the insurers who have to pay higher premiums.
Irrespective of being at fault or not, if someone hits or steals my car because of where I choose to park it, the insurer is taking a higher risk in covering my vehicle in the future, hence my premium will go up.0 -

You won't necessarily pay more: no-one is forcing you to renew with the same company. It's still a very competitive industry.0
