Option 1) The OP actualy did take out the loan and "forgot"
Option 2) The partner took out the loan and either forgot or has issues with telling the OP
Option 3) Some mystery person:
a) Has a key to the house and entered.
b) Took the V5
c) Borrowed all the other documents for photocopying - later returned.
d) Forged the contract using a great copy of the OP's handwriting
e) Didn't bother nicking anything else from the flat.
f) All for a fraud of £593
Lets all please wake up and smell the coffee!
Thats being mean though mate! The OP came here for help not a slagging match. Yes its sounds a little iffy but why not explore all the facts and then offer good advice. Thats what I did in my post, I said it sounded a bit iffy and to double check with husband that he didnt take out the loan and take it from there.
Who ever got hold of the details is close to the home on a regualar basis. I think we know that now, atleast OP can get cracking on finding out what happened.
Let us know what happened after ab23... Some of us DO care and want to see you through the problems you have.

But you say they had a copy of your driving licence, did that not have a picture on it??How was the loan signed for ??In front of a witness or through the post??
Where was the loan cheque cashed??0 -
I did ring the police but they said it was a civil matter. The company put the phone down on me several times and these guys didn't listen when I said to wait to hear from the boss before they got in the car. Log Book Loans is a horrible company to deal with and i'm still fighting them.
I tried everything to stop them taking the car but it didn't work. I have not taken this loan out at all and no member of my family either. I even came out of my flat with an axe to smash the car up because they were taking it. I thought if they were going to take it then they will have to take it in bits but my partner stopped me from getting near it as he said it wouldn't help. I wish i had got to it because the guy sat in it was terrified when i came out with the axe and i think the police would of turned up then.
Still waiting for the receipt of sale for £47.77. My solicitor is chasing them this week so I will update when I get an answer.:mad:0 -
I'M NOT MARRIED. I'M 10000000% SURE MY PARTNER DIDN'T TAKE OUT A LOAN. SOMEONE DID GAIN ENTRY TO MY FLAT WITH A KEY BUT I WAS OUT AND MY PARTNER WAS LOOKING AFTER MY KIDS IN THE LIVING ROOM AND HEARD THE DOOR CLOSE AND THOUGHT I WAS HOME. BUT IT WASN'T ME SO THEY MIGHT OF GOT THE DOCUMENTS THEN AND HEARD VOICES SO LEFT WITH JUST THAT.
WE USE MICROSOFT MONEY ON OUR COMPUTER AND HAVE ALL BANK ACCOUNTS ON THERE SO I WOULD OF SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT AMOUNT OR SO PAYMENTS IN TO THAT AMOUNT. ALSO I OPEN ALL OUR POST AND NO SECRET ACCOUNTS EITHER AND HAVE ACCESS TO HIS WALLET ANYTIME I WANT.
SO FAR NO DETAILS HAVE BEEN RELEASED FROM LOG BOOK LOANS ON HOW THE LOAN WAS PAID AND IF AND WHERE THE MONEY WAS HANDED OUT OR THE CHEQUE CASHED.
I DON'T WANT A SLANGING MATCH EITHER BUT I WANT TO WARN OTHERS OF THIS COMPANY. IF I NEEDED MONEY I WOULD OF ASKED MY MUM AND DAD FOR HELP AND NOT USE MY CAR, MY PRIDE AND JOY THAT I WORKED HARD TO GET, AS SECURITY ON A LOAN WITH A RATE LIKE THEIRS.:mad:0 -

Thank you for your support. The person that use to live there has someone that comes round to the block to see someone else upstairs but I don't want to get into pointing fingers but has got me thinking.:beer:0 -
What a ridiculous thread!!
Someone Broke in to your home, stole your personal possessions, used them to take out a mediocre value loan and you saymy car is now gone for auction and to be honest they can have it!!
!!!!!!!!??
I hope if this goes to court you can think of a better explanantion. Perjury carries a hefty sentence.0 -

I DON'T LIKE BEING CALLED A LIAR, IF I HAD THE LOAN I WOULD OF STOOD UP AND SAID YES OK MY FAULT.
I WORKED HARD FOR MY CAR AND SOMEONE HAS DONE THIS TO ME.
HOW WOULD U LIKE IT>0 -
i wouldnt like it myself, but can you remember if youd have left all this information, driving licence etc, altogether, id also be checking that with my experian and other credit agencies of any other activity on them that you wouldnt know a thing about xx0

If someone broke into my house, stole my car keys (along with a pile of personal documents) I would be straight down the Police Station reporting a robbery.
Would I do as you say you did and shrug my shoulders saying "oh well, they can keep the car BUT I DIDN'T HAVE THE LOAN"??
Your story is ridiculous. :-/
If I were a magistrate or Juror and you came up with the defence outlined in this thread, you would be eating porridge in the morning!0 -
