I am trying to set up a 2nd Gmail email address. Can anyone please tell me how to do this, so I have the 2 addresses in my 1 account?
Thanks

Click on the Settings link in the top right when you're logged onto your account, then choose the Accounts tab.
Click 'Add another email address' and put in the name and email address you want to use. You need to confirm that its yours - they'll send you an email to that address which you need to action.
It works even with other gmail addresses, but bear in mind that any mail you send will appear something like 'From xxxx@gmail.com on behalf of yyyy@gmail.com"0 -
So initially I would set up a NEW account, not add to the one I have - yet. Once I have done that, then add the new account to the excisting one?0

Meant to also ask - when I have xxx@googlemail.com, can I use xxx@gmail.com - is it the same address? Writing gmail is much easier....0

Yes you can nicks.
You can also have email addresses which are in the form xxx+something@gmail.com which is useful for filtering.
You can also add dots to your existing account so that email addresses such as x.xx@gmail.com and x.x.x@gmail.com will also work.
To be able to send mail from those addresses simply go into settings and accounts as a previous poster has advised.

If I remember rightly, if you are in the UK you can't use gmail, but will have to use googlemail.co.uk
See this BBC page0 -
You can use gmail but your email address will automatically be @googlemail
"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
- Bob Dole, Republican presidential candidate0 -
Another GMail trick means you can add descriptions to your email address (such as when registering with various internet websites), and then add filters to manage them....
E.g.
Your normal GMail address is johnsmith@gmail.com
You can then use this as your email :
johnsmith+nospam@gmail.com // to delete it maybe?
or
johnsmith+family@gmail.com // only your family know this, get it ***STARRED**
Add a filter to look for the johnsmith+whatever in the address, apply some sort of filter (star it, delete, archive, whatever).
Doesn't work in some sites with strict email validation, but it's good for family & friends..
Comes in handy, for me anyway

If you were one of those who managed to get an "invite" from another gmail user, in the early days before the general release of gmail, you were still able to retain your gmail addy,
You will find that if you log into your gmail account as a new user, you would have to sign in as googlemail.co.uk user0 -

Me too. I'm pretty sure that in addition to Red Rose Exile being right (bit of a Lancashire club going on
) that anyone who sends an email to you@gmail.com will automatically get to you@googlemail.com even if you've only just opened an account.
