Smart Meters

Remotely. You'll give the details of the IHD to E.ON, they will tell the DCC, the DCC will tell your smart meter to allow that device onto the HAN.Bubba_Shaboo said:
In this scenario would the pairing be achieved remotely or would an engineer be required to attend?QrizB said:
If you don't mind a bit of a gamble, there are IHDs for sale on eBay at bargain-basement prices. You will then have to ask E.ON to pair it to your smart meter (something they can do, but a relatively unusual request so CS might need it explaining to them).London_Millenial said:Thanks for your reply. That company doesn't have any stock in at the moment. Can anyone else recommend any IHDs that are relatively well priced?

Don’t know if this is off topic, but I’ve noticed EDF has posted this notice on their site when I select apply for a smart meter.
“We'll let you know as soon as the energy industry has managed to improve the network, and it's possible to install your smart meter”.
Is the roll-out on hold??

No, that's just you (well, your address / area).benny5 said:Don’t know if this is off topic, but I’ve noticed EDF has posted this notice on their site when I select apply for a smart meter.

Well I don’t live in a remote area. So I can only assume that it’s lack of network capacity in my densely populated area.

Unlikely to be a capacity issue, more a radio signal coverage issue.
If you are in the North, then it's the dedicated Arqiva UHF network, or in the South, the O2 mobile network.

Or get a "whole house" energy monitor from someone like Owl or Energenie. I have a couple of Peacefair PZEM devices hooked up to a home automation system that logs electricity consumption. I find the graphs to be far more informative than an IHD.QrizB said:

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -

Which is irrelevant as Smart Meters don't use the mobile network. It's more like Zigbee or similar systems. ie They use their own.1

Err, no. They use the Zigbee network to communicate between the gas and electric meters and the IHD.carl.waring said:Which is irrelevant as Smart Meters don't use the mobile network. It's more like Zigbee or similar systems. ie They use their own.
To communicate outside of the home they either use the O2 network in the South and Midlands and the dedicated Arqiva UHF network in the North and Scotland.
