That's a bit gloomy Vix - I'm abandoning work after an hour thanks to the beast from the east closing DD's nursery and I was still able to hunt down a cappuccino and a cream bun :D

Does anyone else use Clearscore? They're painfully slow to update, currently £6k+ out of sync with my credit balance.

Just closed the books for February - spent £2,109.15 - our 3rd lowest since January 2017 :j

I use both Beanie, I prefer the Clearscore layout if only they were better at keeping the figures updated!

I don't use any sort of software, dinosaur that I am :D

As for the coming apocalypse - good coffee will take you a long way, its true. I can see how things *might* go the wrong way for a while - if we had a cyberattack and then a pandemic got going, for instance. Any really big disaster is made up of several downward spirals. Dats wot I fink ...

Surely a pandemic and then a cyber attack would be a worse combo? :D

Suspect you're right re coffee. The man with an industrial freezer and coffee will be king, don't think domestic freezers are cold enough for long term preservation...

I think the peak everything situation is more of a worry than rising costs. I've not been reading (post-)apocalyptic novels but I can see that the world we know isn't going to last for much longer.

It never does. Life for humans keeps going round in cycles within cycles which never quite mesh to produce the same thing twice. That's been going on since we were up to our armpits in homo erectus - so it's not new.

Cyber attacks would affect communications - communication is most vital in the early stages.

Sorry Ed, didn't mean to bring the thread down! I didn't mean a catastrophe per se, just that resources will start running low/costs will increase to the extent that people will need to look to simpler, more local solutions. (I guess resource-loss is likely to cause conflict etc. though).

I'm not in the least a 'prepper' by the way, but I do like to know how to do things myself! (So in that respect I guess I am, just not so much the hoard of tinned food kind.)
