A little sleepy after a riotous (for us) Hogmany party with friends. I was so proud of DD - she lasted until the bells as an adorable little whirling dervish on the dance floor - not bad for a 2 year old :rotfl:0

Happy New Year Ed & family!
Hogmany sounds like it was good. Here's to a good rest of year to follow it!Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20
Starter Emergency Fund (#187): £1000/£1000
3 month Emergency Fund (#45): £3300/£33000 -
Hi Ed, love the name of your diary.
I've missed everyone on MFW, so I will be looking in more often this year, so will be cheering on your efforts.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
And I hope DD let you have a good lie in too! Happy thrifty new year.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

Happy New Year Goldie - lovely to see you
Back to work tomorrow and I am exhausted after a day spent getting the house in order so that we can avoid housework this weekend (DD back to nursery).- Christmas tree and decorations taken down and put back in the attic
- Fixed the wireless thermostat to a wall in the hall
- Repaired two chairs where the seats kept falling off
- Repaired the toilet seat with new fixings, it now feels much more stable :T
- Tightened up the hinges on the kitchen cupboards
- Took out the rubbish and the (groaning) cardboard recycling
- Hoovered
- Went grocery shopping for the week
- Made breakfast and lunch for tomorrow
- Paid £3 odds off a CC
- Updated spreadsheets
Now planning a nice cup of tea and an early night! :coffee:0 -
All sounds good and I’d be interested to know how you managed to get such a good deal on the Edinburgh trip?
We also have pulled the Christmas decorations down today. Quite pleased to have only the usual amount of clutter and chaos in the house. :rotfl:2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
We're travelling with Megabus (£14 for 2 returns), a wee night in a Premier Inn (lovely new hotel) and all you can eat breakfast. Probably a few pounds cheaper than I said after cashback and airmiles0

Back to normal yesterday and the credit card jig was excruciating, I was practically scrabbling down the back of the sofa for pennies
Even when expenses are all budgeted for, it can be a bit of a shock when it comes to pay them
£400 or so paid in bills, £360 paid off CC debt and another £82.07 paid off a CC this morning. Our (actual) debt total has gone up as our savings have dipped, but the debt (as in money owed) is down. We'll have an infusion of cash coming shortly as well, so will figure it out
I've also started shortlisting a few wee items to sell on eB@y and Am@zon, so that should bring in a bit more money.
Work is in the post-Christmas lull and I CBA - I would like to invite all of you to join my club :rotfl:
*Edit: and £0.69 OPed0 -

Yay - weekend! :rotfl:
I am about to explode after I took DD into town to have a lovely Greek lunch with Mrs E. The poor wee soul is a bit clingy at the moment and told me she was 'too sad for Mummy' (bless). Bread, olives, houmous, tzatziki, fried courgettes and vegetarian moussaka
Unfortunately our guests for this evening cancelled at the last minute due to illness, so I have 2 roast chickens, 2.5kg of roasties and a mountain of veg to find a home for
Feeling a bit skint, but payday arrives a week on Tuesday. I have been doing some research into reducing the amount of plastic that we use (both depression at the state of our recycling bin and the documentary that everyone saw). It looks a lot easier to get rid of plastics in the bathroom than other rooms of the house, although Mrs E seems less convinced....
£0.31 paid off CC (cashback).0
