Sky Remote Codes

Options
My Sky remote control has worked for years with my LG32LH5000 after I inputted the code (generic, as there didn't seen to be one for the 32LH5000) and the main point being that with everything off, when I press Guide, it turned on the TV and the Sky+ box and showed ......... well, the guide.

Now, having installed a new TV (LG43UJ670V) and searched for the codes (yet again Sky doesn't have one and suggests a series - 15 so far) of generic codes. They all work in that volume, channel etc. will work BUT when I press Guide, it only turns on the Sky+ box and I have to press TV ON. Not a major issue but it is frustrating that I have upgraded my equipment and downgraded my experience!!

Anyone successfully inputted a code that works fully, i.e. pressing Guide turns everything on?

Remember a lot of TV "brands" tend to be rebranded something else - sometimes "official" codes don't work.

A Sky Help forum post suggests for your TV 1451 should work, or 1293, 0206, 2210 and 1868. Also check that HDMI Control is on -> See Picture in the Settings menu.
  • I didn't even know that works, certainly doesn't on my Sony TV/Yamaha sound bar/Sky box combo.

That said the difference between my 3 presses (TV/Power/Sky button) and your two (TV Guide/Sky button) isn't going to make me lose sleep.

Thanks Neil, I'll have a look at that later - tried all those codes and they still give the same result, i.e. everything works except the TV/Guide button.
Colin, I used to have only ONE press and, as I said in my OP, not a major issue and I didn't lose any sleep!

Two presses surely unless you just want to display the TV guide all day long?

Perhaps it's nothing to do with the Sky remote or the code for the TV at all, perhaps your old TV had a way of detecting when an 'input' went 'live' and switched the TV on and selected that particular 'input' , so by pressing a button ( probably any button on the Sky remote would do this ) 'wakes up' the Sky box, and this change of state effectively woke the TV up from standby at the same time.
It's possible the new TV either doesn't have the same facility , or has a menu option for this that isn't currently selected.

That is a possibility but whatever it is, it doesn't work on new TV. Thanks to all contributors but I've wasted more time than the problem demands! Two presses it is.

Point taken but it was one press to turn on TV and Sky box, then more presses to select channel or planner then more presses to select programme or recorded item. Anyway I have more pressing issues to attend to!
