I have a feeling you can't. We checked them at the start of the year (for other things) and I have a feeling that there was a problem... but it may just have been that you can't use them with Hotmail with push (I seem to remember a problem with the Rim server not being able to spoof the Hotmail server).0

Hi
Not too sure what that means, although I work for o2 I am not trained on Blackberry! What I basically want to do is to access the internet via GPRS and go to the hotmail account, I don't neccessarily want the phone to constantly check for hotmail messages. Can this be done?
The blackberry I am looking at is 8300 curve,
Thanks:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
I think I understand. You want to check Hotmail from your Blackberry. Nothing to do with using the Blackberry email function (which means automatic updating of emails into your inbox on there, and I don't think you can do this unless you have a Microsoft Exchange server that can grab emails from Hotmail plus a corporate blackberry service - don't know anything about trying to do this but it would be an expensive solution).
You might be able to get to hotmail via the web browser but the browser on my 8700 blackberry sucks. However, you could install the Opera browser and that should be able to handle the Hotmail website. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Thanks!
no from what I've heard the Blackberry email function is a nightmare to get sorted etc, plus I'm not a business user so would just use it for checking for ebay emails and stuff.. The 8300 is a newer or older version of the 8700? Maybe the internet set up is different?:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
Yeah, Sid's right. The Opera browser is your best bet (nice to help someone from o2, I work for Orange !!)0

Hi there.
Hotmail will work fine on BlackBerry and is very easy to setup, you do however have to upgrade your Hotmail account to Hotmail Plus/Live otherwise Microsoft won't allow POP3 access on your account, this costs £14.99 a year. This is unique to Hotmail, if your not that bothered about your e-mail address my suggestion would be to get a Yahoo address which you can setup with no fee.
You can't use a BlackBerry on PAYG as you need a BlackBerry data tariff and these are only available on Pay Monthly.

you can use mobile.msn.com as an alternative...0
