Tried it - My email to them below.

My wife and I have a current account with N&P
You take over N&P and tell us it has to close
I see there's an offer to transfer non-CYB current accounts to 'B' for £250
We open a 'B' account
The on line transfer service doesn't work
I phone in and after 40 mins on hold get told that N&P customers aren't eligible.

Not a positive experience.
Maybe you could have told N&P customers that rather than saying your 'full' T&C

"Eligible customers This offer is available to new and existing Clydesdale Bank, Yorkshire Bank and B (referred to together as “CYB” in these terms and conditions) customers who meet the qualifying criteria below. Qualifying criteria: 1. Complete a current account switch from a non-CYB current account to a CYB Personal or Private current account"

My account is staying with N&P for the immediate future. You have given me no option but to close our N&P account. I can get a nice reward for transferring it out of CYB when that happens. Do you want us to remain customers? If so please stop treating us with indifference.

Bit of a problem here - you do realise that N&P was taken over by Yorkshire Building Society, which is completely unconnected with Yorkshire Bank?
  • Even odder then that N&P customers do not qualify for the £250

Not at all - neither N&P nor Yorkshire Building Society have signed up to the Current Account Switching Service (whose members are listed at https://www.currentaccountswitch.co.uk/banksandbuildingsocieties/Pages/banks.aspx) and so switching via this route isn't available to N&P customers.

Having said that, earlier in the year some of the banks offering switching bonuses agreed to accept N&P customers and pay the relevant incentive, but only as a concession, not as a right/obligation: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/banking/2017/06/norwich-peterborough-customers-have-longer-to-close-accounts-and-four-banks-will-offer-switching-bonuses
  • Thanks for that eskbanker.
  • I see listed in the T&C "2. The switch must be completed using the Current Account Switch Service*, which
involves the transfer of all active credit and debits from the account you hold
with another bank or building society, and the completion of an account closure
    instruction for that account."

I ran into this, and was told about the problem in branch.
  • I see I owe Yorkshire bank an apology for confusing them with Yorkshire building soc

I wonder if my email may convince them to give N&P's Yorkshire Building society rejets the £250 'hello' despite not being part of the switching service

Be careful if you go out to buy a rolls Royce, you may come back with an aircraft engine.
  • I wasn’t aware that YBS even had any current accounts.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Your email may give them a bit of a chuckle but I somehow doubt it'll lead to a policy change when they're self-evidently not struggling to attract customers, based on the widely-reported experiences of others on here....

In your shoes I'd switch your N&P account to one of the providers who were offering the non-CASS concession in June (check that they still are obviously) and/or open another current account elsewhere for switching to CYBG.
