Aer Lingus flight delays

Hi all,
I flew from London Gatwick to Knock Airport on Fri 20th Oct and it was delayed by an hour and a half. On flying back home again on Wed 25th Oct we were delayed 3 hours!
Should they contact me to give me compensation or do I have to apply for it through them? The flight coming home was because of an apparent security issue but we were all sat on the plane for 3 hours waiting for it to taxi and take off....I have heard nothing from them since returning home so just want to ensure I have the correct information before applying through them.
I wonder if it would be worth it, would I get anything back?
Thanks.

Have a read of the MSE guide:

You may be entitled to compensation if the delay was over 3 hours, but you'll have to apply for it.0 -
Two hours fifty nine minutes = nil.0

EI912 on Wed was 2hrs 44 mins late. No compensation is due.0

Thanks, i thought this was the case. I had pains in my ears as did other passengers from the pilot flying from Knock to Gatwick in just over an hour and 10 mins when it should take an hour and half according to Aer Lingus. We were all sat on the plane for over 3 hours with very little updates given to us so we were all hungry, tired, fed up and slightly concerned. No compensation due at all? Appreciate your thoughts and knowledge...0

No compensation due at all?
Nope.

Most flights build in extra time for possible stacking at destination airport. I doubt very much that they increased air speed to avoid paying compensation.FeelingLighterAlready wrote: »Thanks, i thought this was the case. Thoughts? As above, no statutory compensation is due.We were all sat on the plane for over 3 hours with very little updates given to us so we were all hungry, tired, fed up and slightly concerned. No compensation due at all? Appreciate your thoughts and knowledge...0 -
Well one of the air stewardesses did confess to me that the pilot was flying back to Gatwick much faster as there was another flight due to leave there for Dublin (to take the crew home too) once we had landed....as that one was also very late.
Its unfair that there is a time limit of 3 hours, 2 hours is bad enough surely lol. I understand the law cannot be changed though worth a moan.0
