Cancelling Flights

I've booked flights through majortravel.co.uk with Lufthansa and stupidly supplied the wrong dates - flight out Oct 18th rather than Jan 18th! and return october rather than january. Is there anyway to avoid 100% cancellation charge?

Has the ticket been issued? Have you contacted Major Travel or Lufthansa? Airlines are usually flexible within 24 hours of booking.0

Yes ticket has been issued, I recieved it 2 days ago. I've not contacted either yet, will ring majortravel first in the morning. Offices shut at the mo.0

How long ago did you book?!!
What do the ticket t&c's say?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Booked it on Monday. T&C say that on certain flights 100% cancellation fee applies.0

As you have received your tickets, and the tickets are non refundable, I doubt you are going to get far. But certainly no harm in seeing if you can change the date? Let us know how you get on xGone ... or have I?0

Will do, I'll post on here tomorrow how I did. Thanks.0

If you end up getting nowhere through the normal channels you could try writing a letter to the MD showing a bit of humility. Just say you made a silly mistake, you know they aren't obliged to do anything because it's your fault but you'd appreciate it if they'd consider it. It will strike them as different to the ones they often receive and you never know they might just give you what you want. It worked for me once with Airmiles.0

Non refundable ticketing is an essential part of their business in this climate of initial headline low pricing, this is how these low prices are financed, so the chances of a letter to the MD are low.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

The MD of Lufthansa? Good luck! The MD of Major Travel can do zip once the tickets issued.0 -
can probably reclaim the tax/fees if they are unused can't they?0
