Yes, that's the way.thanks "you can just burn the avi file to a CD-R or CD-RW as if it was data"
do you mean right click - send to - etc? basic drag and drop saving to disc?
Edit " does this mean not divx compatible?" Those instructions don't include DIVX so you may be unlucky. If you have a CD-RW you could just try it anyway to see if it works.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
can i just check ---- a cd disc
not a dvd disc0 -
Hi
Usually people use CD.
I don't know whether DVD discs will work or not.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
will try and then let you know
if it does not work I will need further help with this authoring business .... advance warning :-)0 -
that method did not work unfortunately
so,
can someone please explain how to 'author' as mentioned above
how to take avi files and transfer them to disc so they play on a dvd player
many thanks0 -
Hi
If you 'explore' the data on movie DVDs you see that the data files and folders are stored in a special way for DVD players to read. You can't do this yourself so you use an 'authoring' program.
There are three stages for that program.
First convert the avi into the correct MPEG format.
Second arrange the files and folders.
Third burn it to a DVD disc.
My PC is Linux so the program that I use won't run for you on a Windows PC.
But in a previous post someone recommended 'DVD Flick'.
This is the link:-http://www.dvdflick.net/index.php

i got dvd flick and tried to use it today (see above post) to do this but got an error message...is this because i need to do something to the files first...0

Hi
Perhaps, for YouTube downloads, you should not convert them to avi files at all if you want to make a DVD.
When the files are downloaded from YouTube they may have suffix .fla. I think this means they are 'Flash Animation'.
So then maybe use the Riva FLV Encoder 2 from the download.com link in your other thread to convert them to 'Flash Video' files with a suffix of .flv.
Then try applying the flv files to DVD Flick. According to their 'features' page, DVD Flick supports Flash Video.
Can someone else verify this method?Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
thanks again bat
when i download the youtube videos i save them as flv
i use http://www.savetube.com/
i have been turning these into avi using YouTube FLV to AVI Converter PRO V.2.2.2
i tok the avi files and used dvd flick on them but got the error message
can someone confirm - should i use the avi files in dvd flick as bat says?0
