I think so, but not tried it myself.

See if this site will do it to the correct format:
    http://www.zamzar.com

Conversion Types: vob - DVD Video Movie File

    EDIT: OFF TOPIC.

    Did you have a link?

They deleted mine a few weeks back and I never had a link, was I angry and still am.

That is why I have "Not all blue text is a link!" in my sig.

I said at one point they must of out sourced the link patrol to India.

    They deleted that too. :)

    Hi
I've tried that Zamzar site. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
You enter the URL of the youtube page and ask for it to be converted to an avi or a mpg file. There isn't an option to convert a URL to a vob file.
Then wait approx 15 minutes and they send an email with a link. Follow the link and download your converted file.
You can view the avi file on your PC but it might not play on a stand alone DVD player. If not then you may need to use some other software to author a DVD to burn to disc.

There's a free application called Vdownloader (google it) that will convert YouTube (and other) movies to mpeg. Dead easy. Nero Recode will certainly allow you to author that file into a DVD, although there's probably freebie software that does that too.

Is your dvd player divx compatible? if so, i use keepvid, its a free online tool. I input the url of the video from youtube, it saves it as a flash file, then i convert it to high quality avi using super (also free) then burn it to disc.

I personally use Download Helper (firefox addon) to download the flash file (FLV) then use Any Video Convertor to convert to AVI or whatever.
Use DVD Flick to whack onto DVD (there are better freebies but this is simple to use!)

I use Tubesucker to download the files and convert them to mpeg using any relevant converter.

    Hi
You need to check the specifications of your DVD player.
If it says 'DIVX compatible' then you're OK, you can just burn the avi file to a CD-R or CD-RW as if it was data.

If it's not DIVX compatible then you will need to use separate software to 'author' the file into a DVD to burn onto a DVD+/-R or DVD+/-RW.

thanks "you can just burn the avi file to a CD-R or CD-RW as if it was data"

do you mean right click - send to - etc? basic drag and drop saving to disc?
that would be fab and easy

"use separate software to 'author' the file into a DVD to burn onto a DVD+/-R"

I downloaded something called dvd flick but when I tried to use it today to make a disc of assorted files in avi format I got an error message when it tried to encode the first of them

I have been reading confusing articles about mpeg1/2 and authoring etc but didn't really understand much of it.

need to check if dvd player is divx compatible - are most of them compatible do you know, I probably chucked the handbook away.

    i found the booklet

    there are instructions for playing:
    dvd
    mp3
    jpeg
    vcd

does this mean not divx compatible?

secondary - what is vcd...would this work?

I read something about it today but did not really grasp the topic
