Next directory reduced my credit to £0 !!!

Long story short -
Next directory have now reduced my credit limit to £0 . They advised me that they checked my file with a credit reference agency and have now decided to not offer me credit anymore.
I have been customer for approx 2 years. Not sure if there is anything I can do.
They advised me that if I pay my monthly bill on time for the next 6 months I MAYBE have credit with them.
Can I do anything??
My credit file has not really changed since I took an account with them 2 years ago.

  • I had the same thing happen to me from them, having never missed a payment, and 2 months before them hiking my credit limit from £300 to £1000!
I can not even access my account online to pay have to do it frmo the statement.

They also happily sent me the new catalogue and charged me, and when i complained said my account was not closed and so I wouls still recieve them until I paid the account off and then closed it.

It might be a daft question but if your limit is £0 how can you pay on time for the next 6 months lol

did the same for me,had £2k credit limit but it was clear(infact i was £15 over due to a billing error). TBH i only used it for the sales.placed an order and got a letter saying the were not offering me credit anymore.
so i just called up and closed the account.took 3 more calls to get the £15 though

There might be an outstanding balance on the card which needs paying monthly? Has the OP given the full story? Maybe she/he has either not paid or paid late on occasion. Or maybe she/he has other cards and doesn't manage them well or something else not divulged that has affected credit file.
Also agree with ejones999, pay it off, cut it up and cancel!
  • same happended to me today reduced from 3600 to 1500 never late always pay over min amount, been with them for 5 years. They did this last year as well, said it was a new credit checking system they have that reviews it 6 monthly but 6 months ago put it up to 3600. My credit file had not changed. Awaiting a letter, at least it will save me money at christmas as i wont be tempeted to use it.:confused:

Next recently reported a £6 million dollar loss as a result of credit fraud. I don't blame them for taking precautionary measures given this experience.
