EDF prepayment problems

Hello all! My eldest Son has just been given a council flat and the energy suppliers have historically been EDF. Gas is fine and they have sent him a new card but because there is no electricity at the flat the council were unable to do a complete test. although they did complete what they could without having a supply. We have sent EDF this report and they have sent my Son a letter with an account No but they are refusing to supply him with a card because the council haven't completed the test!! Does anyone have any ideas of where to turn next? I have no idea what to do as both sides are simply sending us back and forth. Many thanks in advance!

It sounds like EDF are being unreasonable. New houses are built all the time, and is impossible to do live tests until the supply is connected. It's normal for the electrician to do dead tests on everything, and sign it off accordingly.

But I see no problem in your son being stroppy to both sides. Make a formal complaint to EDF for failing to connect the supply, and another complaint to the council for giving him a flat with no electricity supply.

Many thanks for that! I do wonder if it has been the case that this flat has had quite a few problem tenants who all seem to have people chasing them for debt. Maybe EDF assume he will be the same lol!! (He won't be).
