can you let me know how you found out where they were registered
Sorry, I didn't mean to get your hopes up there. All I did was found where the two websites you referred to were registered - that is easy, just by doing a Whois search on the domain name.
However, just because the websites were registered in Panama and Nigeria doesn't mean that this is where the scammers are operating from. Some operations of this type can involve groups of people working from different countries. This is one of the main reasons why you can't expect ActionFraud to track them down - the world is just too big a place for them to do that, realistically.
And for what it's worth, I agree that some of the comments above are a little too harsh. I suspect that most of us have been "taken in" in one way or another when we were young and inexperienced...0 -
The easiest way for many people to obtain some cryptocurrency is via one of many exchanges (Bitfinex, Poloniex, Kraken, etc.). Conveniently, the same exchanges offer speculative trading opportunities to their customers.
There are four ways of acquiring bitcoins:
-Mining process.
-Sell goods or services for bitcoin.
-For cash or local bank transfer via LocalBitcoins.
-Public exchanges and brokersTravel Enthusiast0 -
It’s up nearly 30% in 6 days, sounds like people are still buying in:rotfl:0

I think it'll go up to 50% in a few months.Travel Enthusiast0

You will see by by email I said I did not really know what had happened, and was going by the name of the companies, and my nephew's description. I was looking for some valuable responses to allow me to help, not someone to critise the fact that I called it the stock market, and that is not what it is.
I am looking for a proactive response, something I can look in to, not someone telling me he is an idiot, he knows this already, and that doesn't help me!
Do you remember what it is like to be 19! It p****s me off that a good kid who doesn't take drugs, works hard, doesn't really drink or do anything wrong can still get screwed over, does that make sense?
I am in the process of reporting to Action Fraud, but fwor, can you let me know how you found out where they were registered please, and also thank you for your honest response.
Unfortunately there is nothing to say that will help, the money has gone and will never be recovered.
Might be worth spending some time listening to the posts and understanding the difference between the stock market, bitcoin and blatant scammers.
Education is the best way to avoid a repeat incident, though some of the above posts are somewhat blunt.0 -
