There are breaches of the Code of Practice every day of the week, across the whole private parking network. Nobody really gives a f*ck, it’s totally unregulated, a Wild West landscape where rule bending, pressure, harassment, intimidation, threat and borderline illegality all converge to gouge money out of the public’s pocket, for the enrichment of those perpetrating this scandal.

There is a Private Member’s Bill to be introduced in the Commons in February 2018, hosted by Sir Greg Knight. Read up on it, write to your MP and ask him/her to tell you if they will support it on your behalf.

Complain to the BPA (Steve Clark) and the DVLA (David Dunford) about the Code of Practice breaches, see what they say, and if they’ll do anything about it. Don’t hold your breath, but you must complain to them, as every complaint adds more to (hopefully) a tipping point.

Complaints to the BPA and DVLA can be emailed to:

    steve.c@britishparking.co.uk

    and DVLA:

    david.dunford@dvla.gsi.gov.uk

    Thanks for the replies

So basically, use the letter in the newbie thread to muddy the waters and hope they drop it?

Keith P & Umkomaas, what you have said was my thoughts, and you no doubt say this to people each and every day, that these guys are a law onto themselves!

I must admit, I am considering settling this as I don't really have the time to challenge it as I don't think its super sturdy ground! Regardless of my action I will send a complaint over to the BPA citing a break of the codes of practice.

If I send in an appeal can the discounted amount still be paid or will the opportunity have been lost?

You are on 'super sturdy ground'.
    Hasn't your research shown that?
You know, when you looked up "not relevant land"?

    However, your money, your choice.
Fund the scammers if you like.

    Ask them.

If you supinely offer up your payment to them, you just become another element of their scam - the one I highlighted above for you.

They’ll be buoyed by your contribution and encouraged to find even more frightened and intimidated people to smash.

Make sure you also write to David Dunford of the DVLA - more likely to be helpful.

Oh for goodness sake haven't you learnt anything on here, this is a railway station car park so it comes under Bye-laws so a penalty can be issued. But it isn't relevant land for a PPC to operate on that basis, only an authority can issue the penalty.

The PPC can do nothing but threaten, and after six months it times out anyway, so if you pay up you are a mug!

    Hi all

    Thanks for the tough love!!

Going to think about what to do over the weekend but probably go down the route of;-

1 - Read the damn forum some more!!
2 - Wait for NTK to arrive and appeal using blue letter - 2 days before deadline
3 - Review at this stage and see if provided with POPLA code - if so appeal as "not relevant land" - 2 days before deadline
4 - Write to David Dunford & Steve Clark citing breaches in BPA code of conduct

    Thanks again for the advice!!

Looking good! You’re fast getting the lay of the land (relevant or not!). :)

Your ground could not be firmer, only a dithering doris would pay them a penny. Are you a dithering doris perchance?
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

    Might very well be!

Knowledge is power and I'm getting all the info I can to make sure I'm armed to fight it!

You guys have been really helpful, going to look to challenge under POPLA and go from there. I did see that POPLA had been suspended for train stations though, so a bit more reading to be done!
