Card details compromised

It was on rip off Britain last week, they actually demonstrated it happening. They had an app on the phone, swiped it next to a pocket with a card in, uploaded the data to a laptop and then showed all of the info that had been taken.
Or are you saying that they faked the whole thing because they are against contactless cards?
All they demonstrated was that the phone could read the long card number and the expiry date - not the cardholder's name or CVV.
The the guy on the program claimed he used that info to pay for something on Amazon.
If that's the case, it's Amazon you should be concerned about. Why doesn't Amazon...
1) Ask for the CVV
2) Ask for the cardholder's name as it appears on the card
3) Ask for the billing address for the card
Just about all other online stores do.
Anyway, with no CVV check, no name check and no address check - if you reported an unauthorised transaction, I'm pretty sure your bank would refund you without question.0 -

This one is just a small white one and she puts the amount into her phone and if displays on the machine, then you put your card in and pin number. There is no till roll so you don't get a receipt. Could it be that the phone app (don't know what it is) is not secure? My card started in Nov 2015 and it only happens 10 days after I used this machine.
Exactly as you describe, a small square one linked to a phone. Sometimes there's a bit of a delay, too. I don't get a printed receipt, I do get a written receipt as I pay for countdown (12 weeks for the price of 10)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
