Obsolete boiler timer need help please

I have a Worcester 240 combi boiler over 20 years old has been serviced recently. However a few months later and the mechanical timer is ticking very loudly. As the boiler is in a bedroom this is not ideal.
I have scoured the internet and cannot locate a replacement part. The one company which was showing it in stock have not acknowledged my order or sent me the part or replied to my emails. The phone number goes to a voice mail which says the mailbox is full and the other phone number is answered by a lady who says the company have the wrong phone number on their website
I have opened a dispute and escalated to a claim with paypal.
Does anyone know how I can stop it ticking so loud but still use the timer ? It is not going round properly as it is not keeping time correctly over 24 hours but should work well enough to have the heating come on and off over an evening if I reset it daily. I have considered replacing it for an electronic timer as these seem to be still available but as I don't have a thermostat fitted to the boiler so I'm not sure how practical this would be as the electronic ones only seem to be able to be on and off once whereas the manual ones could be set in 15 minute slots.
Am I going to have to replace the boiler just because the timer doesn't work ? How much / how messy is it to get a thermostat fitted ? I have an original thermostat in the box from the previous owners. Any help gratefully received

You can’t do much other then disconnect it and fit a external digital timer or have a wireless programmable stat fitted, you can have a receiver box put under the boiler and the stat where ever you like.0

Thanks. Can I not remove the mechanical timer and just plug in a Worcester electrionic digital timer 77161920080 ? If this is possible could I then get the original thermostat fitted ? Sorry my knowledge is very basic just what I have learned off my dad and seen the boiler man do over the years.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

You can but it’s very expensive for a timer. It’s the same timer as a Drayton standard timer.0

I've seen some refurbished tested used ones on ebay for £35 upwards. Sellers have good feedback. Not sure what a drayton timer is ... will google. thanks0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

is a drayton timer one of these ?
https://www.screwfix.com/p/drayton-lp722-mk4-programmer/26078
not sure what this means ?>Suitable for Gravity-Fed & Fully Pumped Systems
Separate heating and hot water timings - Would not want a timer on the water as its a combi would want hot water on demand.
Think I need to call the boiler repair man !0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

If your happy with a refurbished one then the £35 will be the cheapest. The Drayton one you need is similar to what you’ve found but you need the timer version, search screwfix for timer instead of programmer.0

Likely one of these will do the job, you'd porbably need the mains powered version though.

I'm building a thermostat/timer for my new boiler using the above as the timing element, plus some trick circuitry of my own design, with a secondary thermostat for when the house is detected as being empty. Basically a im making a smart thermostat for a 10th of the price.
Point is it's just a fancy switch at the end of the day, doesn't have to be specific to the make/model of boiler as long as you have power for it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OP, the co isn’t heating parts centre is it, because your description sounds exactly like the issue I’m having with themI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Can I unplug the ticking mechanical timer and replace it with this ? I don't need the heating on yet so can switch to water only. Then get a boiler man to fit a thermostat so I can switch to heating and water and control when the heating comes on by temperature. My rads have temperature control valves on them but not all of them work.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

But according to this your boiler has an electronic timer

You sure it's a mechanical timer you have, and that's what's ticking?
Seem to be plenty of the electronic ones available online, and mechanical ones for WB on eBay?0
