O/S Daily Wednesday 25th October 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, sounds quite blustery outside, but still mild the heating hasn't come on this morning, dry underfoot too.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was duck in hoisin sauce, savoury rice, and mushroom chow mein and a stuffed baked mushroom. I remembered to get the beef out to defrost so will get that and the stock, herbs, onions and veg in the slow cooker before I go to work, I'll serve it with dumplings, mash and veg.

Yesterday work was another manic day - was busy at times but still not enough staff, and long complicated enquiries, and now because the back offices are so far behind, revisits to find out what's going on, why haven't we heard anything enquiries, and also quite a lot of work not being done incorrectly - all making the job all the more stressful as there appears to be an air of indifference towards us as we're the one's facing the customers who want answers. Luckily I'm off after today until Monday so it'll be good to get some down time.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

Day One of tru's spa. I cheated and started last night, by taking a long hard look at myself in the mirror. What the hell has happened to my posture?! It's terrible, I really need to sort it out. Bet that's half the reason (or maybe the whole reason?) I can't quite exercise my leg back to normal. This spa thing was supposed to be peaceful and relaxing but so far all I've managed to do is make myself angry with myself :rotfl:

Pilates this morning then. I can't find my DVD so I'll be using YouTube. I'll attempt a walk with Scampi but my leg is stiff, might have to cut it short (the walk, not the leg) and play in the garden instead. He doesn't care but I do, and I worry about it. Which is stupid, he's a happy boy.

The coffee table has yarn and a book on it, I switch between crocheting a few rows and reading a short inspirational story from a crochet business person.

Miss tru will be home about 2pm so we'll have our usual lasagne and Teen Wolf session. It's getting good, we're about to meet the hellhound. We met him a while ago actually, but haven't seen him transform yet :D Tonight I will be defuzzing and using a nice moisturiser, instead of my usual cheap one.

Off to cleanse my face with micellar water. I've got no idea what that actually is, but I tried it last night and my face felt all fresh and lovely, so it'll do for me :D

    How's that leg Cranky?

Washing up to date, must do some ironing soon, the basket is overflowing. I was sorting out some sewing stuff last night so will have to clear that up too, I've made a bit of a mess!

Hope everyone is ok, have a good Wednesday. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

    Dark, blowy and raining outside!

Yesterday was all calm, the students got on with their assessment which gave me some thinking time. I had a productive chat with a colleague who’s not normally in our building, she helped direct me to a solution to a tricky problem.

After that I did a small shop, veggies and fruit along with some peanut butter for the mousetrap. I wasn’t sure there is a mouse but the pieces of chocolate are gone without anything in the trap. I’ve put only a little peanut butter in it so I’m hoping that the little b*gger will have to reach in.

Straight off to Glasgow after class today. Happily the visitor is proving to be OK which means that DM is delighted which, in turn, makes me less stressed too. :A

Speky - happy hols for tomorrow.

    Tru - happy ‘you time’

    And happy Wednesday to all.

Tru does Tru's spa serve wine ?? if so book me in sounds fabby :D

It was heaving at work yesterday, so much so that the boss and I did not get a lunch break so I was on my feet for over eight hours, so I did not cook when I got home as I was shattered, we had fish and chips and they were very nice, the mince has been bumped to tonight.

OH has put a load in the wm this morning, its only his stuff as I don't like mine sitting there all day as it gets creased, so that will have to go I the td tonight

Today at work will probably be more of the same as its half term lots of little kids walking round in Halloween costumes though which is sweet.

Right I need to get ready, have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off nmlc.

I’ve just popped in to say thank you all very much for your thoughts and kind words and advice on how things are for me at the moment, and how I’m struggling they really do help.

I spent yesterday mainly trying to have a nap on the sofa. Where I had spent most of the day before in tears I had a terrible headache all day and it didn’t really ease off at all. On the plus side at least it has gone this morning.

I’m going to get some breakfast now and see if I can at least eat something nutritious today instead of the biscuits and cake that I have lived on for the past two days.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Your day sounds perfect TRU apart from the Pilates session! Too much like hard work for me these days!

Yesterday was a day of not doing much - a potter in the morning doing this and that, then the Surgery for Mr TA's flu jab (against their advice I never have one but that's my choice) Then we got the bus to Ilkley for a wander of the (very expensive) charity shops - there was a bag in Cancer Research window marked at £45!!!!! Then 'Spoons for a Steak Day meal - Mr TA had Sirloin and I had Smothered Chicken, and very nice it was too.

Today I am gallivanting again but this time minus Mr TA. I am having my monthly bus trip to Skipton with my friend. The usual wander of the market stalls and cs and finally lunch and a shared bottle of wine in the Red Lion. As always we will have put the world to rights before getting the bus back home! Hopefully no books will have jumped into my hands but don't hold out much hope!

I have a bowl of creamy chicken and bacon pasta defrosting for Mr TA to warm up for his lunch. He can't go far wrong with that - can he?!
I might treat him to a nice pie for his tea from the award winning pie shop there!

Have a good day folks if you can and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care all and SPEKY have a wonderful hol in Spain. xx

    Good morning All

Thanks for the thread nmlc, enjoy your time off

Haven't posted for a few days but have been reading along.

Welcome to creative gal and JennyP

    Specky enjoy your holiday

Not sure if my fridge freezer is about to give up. When I went to the fridge last night the bottom under the salad drawers was full of water. I turned the control to max but the motor didn't switch in. Thought if I had any hope of saving fridge contents I would but everything into a cold box with ice packs until this morning.
Then when I was taking everything out it switched on. Not sure but milk doesn't feel very cold this morning, maybe just me.
It's an integrated fridge freezer so hoping it's ok, as I'll have to get some one in to remove it if it needs replacing. Think I would prefer a 'normal' freestanding one.

Saw these on hukd, thought lovely for little ones although maybe not the last one

Good morning chums, our Frank is still with us and the hospital are hoping to reduce his meds and wake him up today. The news isn't good though as they were told yesterday by the Drs that he has a 'mass' on his pelvis that they can't remove so it will be probably palliative care. DD and her OH are trying to get flights home but so far no luck.:(:(

So sad and I feel for them all, but as long as he is pain free we shall have to wait and see what happens today.

I have promised the boys we shall go pumpkin picking later this week possibly on Saturday .

Friday I shall be at our local hospital with my youngest DD as she has her operation on her foot, its been quite a traumatic week so far and its only Wednesday:(

Hope everyone is Ok and << hugs >> to the down and poorlies

    Cheers chums

    Happy holidays to Speky
Hugs Holly if you can perhaps a little walk in the fresh air? Having Lulu has made a huge difference to my mental state, not just her but being outside so much as well, mother nature can be very healing x
Dry and bright here today, am doing the food shopping this morning as busy tomorrow and the fridge is really quite bare. Have my eldest DSS coming for tea so will do chicken fajitas, nice and easy.

Have a good day folks x
  • Damn. Had written out a post and then clicked on silver-oldies links and lost it all.

Thanks for the well wishes. Holiday tomorrow which I can't wait for. Back in a week.
