  • Picked up the keys today.
Went to the house and they seem to have let it go since we viewed it . Most of the carpets are really grubby and dirty. The house is dirty will need a deep clean before we move all the furniture in.
Some of the rooms are smaller than we remember and some bigger amazing how you "forget" . But overall it will be a lovely family home with some work.

We visited both of the local primary schools with the boys because we don't know which one they have places at yet.
We went to the local park and explored the area some more while we were waiting for the previous owner to move the rest of his stuff out.
They have left stuff behind which we will have to take to the tip. All extra work we didn't really need but that's the way it is.

As above once we have deep cleaned it and cleared the rest of the stuff they have left behind out it will be okay. Carpets will be washed and hoovered until we have the funds to replace. All the rooms need a good lick of paint. But overall we are happy. It's a lovely area and a big enough for what we need. And that's the most important thing .

Can't wait to get cracking on it. But also need to be realistic with trying to save up a reasonable emergency fund at the same time.

Overall im very proud of us all as a family that we have managed to get to this point. Here's to our new life in our new home . (We move in on the 18th).

    Have a great evening everyone

  • Good Evening my beautiful diary friends,

I hope you are all well, thankyou for all your lovely messages.
We move in 6 days !
I'm off work tomorrow so I'll be giving in the notice for our flat tomorrow. And making lots of phone calls.

School admissions phoned today , they don't have space for both the boys today. We have decided to put eldest at the Christian faith school as it offers things I know he will enjoy. And our second son is going to the community school as it has more sen support to offer him. So they are going to different schools but both walking distance.

Our first weekend at the house I have off (just the way my shifts fell) . Which will be nice.

In not so good news. My dad lost his job today I think he is still in shock he went to work this morning and had a phone call well doing the deliveries to say they have gone into administration. I feel for him and hope he finds a new job that he enjoys soon :( . It has also brought to my realisation how vital an emergency fund is especially now we have a Mortgage. I need to set up life insurance too. :money:

Have a lovely evening all x

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends ,

Hope you have all had a lovely day.

We had quite a productive day. Got a pile to take to the skip tomorrow. And going to list the last of the stuff we're not taking with us.
I have work tomorrow in the afternoon until 10pm.

We have been using up as much as possible out of the freezer and pantry I'm not going to do a food shop now until we move will just top up the essentials like milk , bread etc .

Saturday will be another day of sorting stuff out.
Removal men are coming on Tuesday to pack up and we are traveling to the new house after school and they are meeting us at the new house Wednesday morning to unload/unpack.

Little ones are asleep in bed so eldest myself and partner are watching a film .

Have a great evening everyone

Sorry to hear about your dad's job, hope he finds another one soon .
  • Thank you I hope he does too.

I hope everyone is well. Our cooker decided to blow up today, the temperature of it has been dogey for a while. And the heat element has blown a few times now so we aren't taking it with us when we move.

I need to pull in on our spending too . I haven't done well on no spend days :o

So new start tomorrow at trying harder at being frugal.
Tomorrow will be a no spend day at least as I'm at work all day :rotfl:

3 more days till we move.
