car/motorbike accident

Have you managed to find yourself a witness? If not, get one!
Surely someone else stopped that can write a statement saying he pulled out directly infront of you? Pedestrian? Another driver?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
This may be telling my granny to suck eggs, but insurance claims apart: ride defensively!
If there is a blind pull out, and someone can pull out, then they probably will.
Filtering down the outside of the traffic, (for instance) makes it worse, as they don't think about motorbikes. Or probably much else in many cases.
Same with the speed limit. While it is mandatory as a maximum speed, it should not be taken as a target speed. There are times when you need to be going much slower, particularly when filtering in stopped / congested traffic.
Not saying it was your fault in any way incidentally, just to be careful!
Edited to add sense to patent nonsense!0 -
Really?
A speed limit is a maximum allowed, not a target to be met. Whether that limit is reasonable depends entirely on current conditions ... if there is congestion then riding (driving) at the speed limit may be legal but may not be reasonable.
(I'm presuming from the OP that the driver came from a side road on the right, across congested traffic in the other lane and straight in front of the OP. OP's lane didn't have congestion. If it did then riding at the limit probably wasn't sensible).
I echo the defensive riding comment. Assume the barstewards are all out to get you.0 -
But you said "Same with the speed limit. Advisory not mandatory in stopped /congested traffic.". That is patent nonsense.
Yes it is nonsense.
What I meant was that while the 30mph speed limit is of course mandatory, that you don't have to ride or drive at the maximum speed allowed by the speed limit in all situations.
Badly and incorrectly worded.
I accept my forty lashes with a wet woodbine! :eek:0 -
Don't worry ... I knew exactly what you meant.0

Consider yourself lashed!
However, even in perfect conditions, driving at the limit is neither madatory nor advisory;).0
