Plusnet Installation Cost Query

Hi,

I've moved into an apartment which has numerous sockets etc for telephones etc.
Plusnet are charging £49.99 for installation. Under what circumstances are this this fee not applicable?

From the blurb:
Will I have to pay the £49.99 new line fee? If you don't have a line, or you're switching from cable, you'll need to pay for a new line. If you have a BT line but are with another provider, ie, Sky or TalkTalk, you may also have to pay but you'll be told whether you will or not during the sign-up process before you commit to the deal.

Not having gone through this process before, as I'm a new customer, there will be no line connected and therefore I pay the £49.99. Is that correct? I had initially assumed that this was to physically install the line as opposed to connecting it at the exchange.

Thanks.

New coustomer charge - for work at exchange.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Can depend though - when I moved in here the line was disconnected but present in the property and I may have been liable for £49.99 - as it turned out I wasn't as I think Plusnet were able to get it going (presumably it wasn't physically disconnected) without a need to visit the exchange, or maybe it was with somebody else - I never found out either way but whatever.

I dare say if the line has been physically disconnected at the exchange (ie pulled out) as opposed to just disabled via what I presume is a software configuration of sorts that's a different matter.
  • Thanks - I did think it was just a matter of remote update as everything would be in place. However, at least I know now to factor it in.
