My contract with Plusnet has finished. I pay £37 pm for BB and phone including anytime calls.
I'm going to ditch the anytime calls as I hardly use that phone.

My question is how do I switch to BT on line? they are offering £120 Reward Card for Unlimited Infinity at £34.99 pm with no activation fee... plus I'll get £80 from TopCashback (thanks Caddyman)

Do I just go through the 'new customer' purchasing bit or do I have to let Plusnet know first?
    Thanks

Switching is super easy. I already have a Topcashback account, so when I switched from Plusnet to BT in May, I just did it via the link on Topcashback and I got back £80. At the time, BT were offering a £200 reward card, but obviously it has now been cut to £120, but still, add the £80 from TCB, and it's still £200 in your pocket.

As others have said, absolutely no need for you to even speak to anyone at Plusnet, just switch via BT's website (after clicking through TCB first!). You must have 'cookies' enabled on your browser when you sign up to TCB so it registers your click.

I'm on 12 month BT Infinity Unlimited contract, £28.99 per month at 55mbps. The calls aspect of the contract is irrelevant to me as I don't use a landline anyway. If you haven't got one, I'd seriously consider getting the BT Homehub 6. It costs £50, but when you consider you get £80 back from TCB, providing you click through their link, then it's a good router to get. Plus, if you ever switch back to Plusnet, you can continue to use your BT router.

you would have been better moving to infinty 1 as that is now same speed as infinity2 , im paying 26.99 a month for up to 80/20 with bt

edit:scrap that you had to be a infinity1 customer b4 28th sept to get the upgrade

I pay £25.99 per month for unimited 80/20,weekend calls and B.T Sport alson included.I took out a 24 month contract back in April.

I think that is a pretty good deal.

It's not really correct to say only BT can provide fibre to your property even if you are in a property that is FTTP (fibre to the premises) there are alternatives to BT , it's just they tend to be 'premium' ISP's and charge accordingly, so strange as it may seem, BT are the value provider for FTTP.
As for the reason the likes of Sky and Talk Talk , who can buy wholesale access to FTTP if they wanted to, (in much the same way as they buy access to FTTC ) but chose not to, you would have to ask them why , it's not because they are not allowed to, it's because they don't want to

That's true actually, there are other fttp suppliers but they are mostly more expensive (Zen is actually cheaper than BT's standard price for Infinty 2 (£47 v £54) and I would have changed to them had I not found the 'upgrade' method on this thread. It also takes a bit of digging around to find these suppliers as they didn't appear on the comparison sites I used.

I await TalkTalk/Sky's 1000Mb lines to make it to my part of York.
