Ditching smartphone

I want to go back to a nokia 130 just for calls and texts and use a laptop or pc for anything else.

Its fine except i have a three smartphone with whatsapp and a couple of groups.

I can use the three sim card in a 2g phone and i cant use whatsapp on web or pc if i totally end my smartphone contract.

There are a few nokias that can do whatsapp eg 208 301 and 515 but they are not sold anymore and whatsapp wont work after 2018 anyway on nokias.

Is there any way i can keep these whatsapp groups active or should i just tell them im leaving the groups and text or email me instead?

It might be a mistype on the op, but you can't use a 2g phone on 3. Their network will only allow 3g and above devices to connect.

I believe you can, with a bit of trickery, get WhatsApp to work on a PC without a linked phone. I googled that recently an a number of options came up, for example:

yes I made a spelling mistake, I cant use three sim card with my nokia 130.
I could buy a nokia 301 for about £50 and stay on three.
However I am considering leaving three as I'm out of contract and going onto plus net sim only or similar.

Ive bought a nokia 216 and a Tesco sim card, either to use as PAYG with rocket packs or a sim only contract for 7.50 a month. I've got my three PAC code and will transfer the number over to a PAYG card to make sure the contract is ended.
