Dental bridge fell out

My OH has a dental bridge a year and a half old that fell out.

Do they just stick it back? If so what band is it?
Band 3 would be ridiculous if it’s just you stick it back

It depends on what sort of bridge it is and why it fell off.

Eg if it is a “stick on” bridge it will probably need to go off to the laboratory to be re etched before it can be stuck back on.

If a conventional bridge, providing there is no damage to the underlying tooth then it can be stuck straight back on.

Both of these would be band one charges.

However if there is underlying damage to the tooth then further work may be necessary at a different charge.

A bridge coming out after 18 months may indicate a problem eg a stick on bridge may not be suitable long term and a different type of bridge needed, or if a conventional bridge it may need a different design. In which case you would be looking at a band three for different bridges.

It was a bridge where they made a tooth and stuck it on with 2 wings. Tooth looked fine as it’s less than 2 years old.

He bit into a pizza and it just snapped off, you can still see one wing in tact, the other I assume is on his teeth.

He has the ones with stick on wings as the teeth to the left are too small to have the cap type ones. It is a front tooth.

If one wing has sheared off then there may be some problems with the biting force applied to the bridge. This type of bridge can be stuck on with only one wing, but ultimately dentist may have to look at a different type of bridge.

    Thanks for the replies.

As it is a front tooth and the teeth on the left are tiny I think that’s why they suggested this type

Very difficult situation then. In an ideal world an implant would be ideal as it doesn’t rely on the teeth around it.
Implants are not generally available on the NHS and you would be looking at a cost of around £2000

    That’s the problem :(
I just hope that as only one wing is left on the fake tooth, it doesn’t cost band 3 to add a second wing to it before re sticking

Ah I just examined the tooth and it looks like it only had 1 wing?
I guess as the other teeth are so small they didn’t attach it? It just looks perfectly smooth on the other side
So it might have just been stuck one side possibly. That’s just from an inspection. Not sure what it would look like if the wing had snapped off though.

Stick on bridges normally only have one wing.

If the bridge is broken it would need remaking, you cannot add wings etc back on.

However stick on bridges need a good amount of enamel to bond to , so if the tooth it’s bonded to is small long term your husbands dentist may suggest something else.

    Thanks for your help!

Think it’s bonded to the other front tooth which is a good size. He is a bit shaken up atm as he has a phobia of anything dental related :(

    Hopefully it’s a cheap a easy fix

    Thanks again :)
