ESA and private pension

But I know that on ESA claims "NHS ill health pensions" are regularly disregarded...
But a police/fire service/teacher/local government would not be?0 -
OP,
You should ask the SPPA if it would fall under "Permanent Health Insurance"
Let's not jump to any conclusions, as I am pretty sure this section is listed under "Pensions Income" in DWP guidance. It is all semantics (if that is the right word to use), "Ill health Pension" and "Permanent Health Insurance" are probably one and the same thing. And I have often seen "NHS Pension on ill Health grounds" being disregarded on ESA Conts.
As to the % of premiums paid, maybe the DWP do not bother to check this. And maybe the providers -knowing about the rules for ESA Conts- make sure that all participants pay more than 50%.....and maybe that's why DWP does not bother to check it.
I vote that we should now wait and see what further info you can come up with on Monday.
When you phone ESA ask if there are any notes on your record -when your claim started- about your pension being fully disregarded as an "ill health pension".
And remember to ask for a call back from FEPS.
Because to qualify under that rule someone has to be dead.....that's the rule, the deceased partner's pension, and only the deceased partner's pension is disregarded....the ESA Claimant's own pension is not disregarded.
There is some ambiguity due to wording so, as epitome says, clarification is required from the pension provider. The accurate answer will make a big difference to the outcome.0 -

If you receive an occupational or personal pension that pays more than £85 a week, your contributory ESA will be reduced by half of the amount over this limit.
The OP is not receiving PHI but an occupational pension.
Not sure what your point is, given my reply in post #40But a police/fire service/teacher/local government ill health pension would not be?
Again not sure why you are saying this given what I have said in post #400 -
I am just wondering if DWP are kepping all corespondence provided by me (either scans or orignal documents ) ? That may help becuase would prove them I have declered my pension from the day one .0

Your declaration of your pension will be on the call recording when you made your claim.0

I understand they record calls but I made my aplication by filling the paper form which then was send to them . In this form in part 9 ( about pension ) I have informed them about my pension and wonder if they still keep it in their records ?0

No, under the same interpretation of guidance that some BC staff are following, I am sure they would all be disregarded.

post 5I was in the teacher's final salary scheme and was awarded ill health retirement last summer.
I passed the ESA assessment and was placed in the support group. The amount I was awarded was roughly halved by the pension.

i had a letter couple days ago from my LGPS pension scheme confirming that my ill health tier 1 has been confirmed
Weekly pension payments being
highest £184 gross pw minus ESA ..50% of everything over £85 = £49.50 that could be taken from my ESA
lowest £126 gross pw minus ESA ..50% of everything over £85 = £21.00 that could be taken from my ESA0 -

The original claim form is retained along with copies of any supporting documentation supplied. The fact that you told them about your pension at the start of the claim doesn't change the fact that you didn't tell them about the increases received after that date. As stated previously, it is the claimant's responsibility to inform DWP of ANY change of circumstance. By your own admission you didn't do that.0 -

I too am in receipt of an Ill Health Retirement Pension through LGPS, I am also in receipt of Contribution based ESA, I do not have any deductions taken from my ESA payment and receive £109.65 per week, obviously paid fortnightly.0 -
