Can any solicitor certify id form for land registry or does it have to be a solicitor conveyancer? Any idea of the cost? On the internet it could be as much as £50 + vat to £100 + vat.? No local Land Registry office nearby nearer one in Croydon. With passport you have a choice of professionals to certify. In their website it says to let cs knows and you will be given some options. Any idea what it will be? Not sure whether it is the right forum to post, apologies if not. Thanks

The Land Registry rep will be along soon but just phone them and ask. I have found them very helpful.0

I went to see a local solicitor, he certified my identity for the land registry and only charged me a fiver.0

I understand you can now self certify deeds and documents yourself but not ID1. £5 is very good will be interested to find out how much my local solicitor will charge. Thanks0

My solicitor charges a flat fee of £5 plus £2 per document, so if there were 3 documents that would total just £11. Most will certify documents for you. I've even had some certified at the local job centre for free in the past.0

IMHO an absolute bargain. When I swore the oath for my father's will in 1981 the charge was a fiver. My solicitor charges a flat fee of £5 plus £2 per document, so if there were 3 documents that would total just £11. I was charged the same reasonable fee when I had to swear an oath at another solicitor. I thought it was a flat fee, maybe I'm wrong or live in a less affluent part of the country.Yorkshireman99 wrote: »IMHO an absolute bargain. Section 3 of our PG on the subject defines the term Conveyancer in the context of our identity requirements
We tend to insist ona conveyancer as they are familiar with our forms/processes and we can run the necessary checks as a result.
No idea re how much you will be charged but as with any service you will probably find quite a range. £5 is the lowest I've ever heard.“Official Company Representative
