Paid money into bank and it still isn't in my account!

So today I paid money into my nationwide account for the first time as it's a new bank account I've opened. With RBS, I just went in, they used my card and my money went in instantly. This time, they didn't even use the card, they just wrote down the amount I am putting in and some details and I was told that's all fine. Is nationwide using some sort of caveman system for putting money into your account because I've never known a bank account to have this much trouble depositing my own money into an account. It's been 4 hours and I still can't see it in my available balance with online banking and their helpline was less than useless. If I'm missing something here please do call me out on it because I'm completely new to this bank. Cheers!

I have never had this problem on a Saturday with RBS. What's your point?0

I would think it will show on Monday, as Saturday isnt a working day, Nationwide dont count Saturdays in their clearing cycles, or when processing DD.
Natwest and RBS do though, as my DD came out on a Sunday this month as the 1st fell on a weekend.
You have a receipt for the money you have paid in right?
Just wait till Monday and you will see the money appear as available balance to draw against.

You've got your receipt? You obviously don't need the cash at the moment or you'd have kept it. So what is the problem?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

Frome the T&C's
Deposits, withdrawals and interest (excluding cheques)
10. Cash and automated credits deposited into the account will be available for withdrawal immediately and interest will be earned from the date of deposit. There may be a delay of one working day if deposits are made at a Nationwide cash machine. We will credit your account with the amount which has been verified and accepted by us when we check the deposit.0 -
You're using a new organisation for the first time.
Talk to them. Get to understand how they work.
Just because a bank does something one way doesn't stop a building society from doing it differently.0 -
