I suggest Egypt because it is a fascinating place. You could get visas on arrival. We went there with my two children in April. You could mix a Red Sea location with Luxor with its amazing historical sights. We stayed in a stunning looking hotel overlooking the River Nile. We rode on some trains in Egypt and it was a fascinating experience.
If you wish to stay in Europe you might with to go on an Inter Rail trip. Your daughter could then see a number of different locations. On one of our best trips we went from Toulouse to Pisa stopping in Barcelona, the French coastline, Monte Carlo, San Mariano and Rome.0 -
Asia? Could easily be something different and so much to explore - cities and beaches.0

I'm in Bali right now. I was last here 10 years ago and I'm enjoying it so much. Lots to see and do here with every budget in mind. I'm sure a teen would find lots of Aussie teens to hang out with too. I find as long as the kids are happy and having a good time you can too.
I'm in Nusa Dua which is very chilled with a great beach but most Aussies we've met here recommend Seminyak or Ubud for a few days so 2 centre break mixes your holiday up a bit.
We do have Mount Agung (volcano) on high alert at the moment but everything is completely normal. We're far enough away so our only concern would be any ash cloud affecting flights. Fingers crossed she goes back to sleep.0 -

Ubud definitely for the culture and a million shades of green. For the beach time, Sanur is great. The beach is sheltered, there's a 5 miles beach boardwalk, and it's not in your face like Kuta and Legian.0 -

Does your daughter enjoy train journeys? Switzerland offers many of these, often through spectacular mountain landscapes with on-board observation cars.
How about Transylvania? Fly to Bucharest, and a two hour train journey through wonderful mountainous landscapes will get you to Sinaia, and access to stuff like this...

...at the top of the link click on 'Things to Do', and see what else the Sinaia area has to tempt you,
Then on by train to Brasov, Sighisoara, and Sibiu. All gorgeously scenic, with superb accommodation, eating and drinking to suit all pockets.
And a lot better vfm than Switzerland.....might even meet the Drac man.:)0 -

Met some Brits who live in Oz and they travel here every 3 months. They like nusa more than sanur but do say everything is more expensive down here. Tanjung benoa a mere 10 min taxi ride away is much cheaper. I like it here even more after visiting Kuta yesterday! I agree it's sanitised & manicured as some say but that suits me perfectly when I can take a cab very cheaply and travel wherever I choose on the island. I'd return to nusa again. It's a lovely chilled vibe here. If budget allows I'll try the Sofitel next door as its stunning with the most amazing Sunday brunch. If you're a seafood lover as I am it's actually great value.0 -
I would definitely recommend cruising, we took all three of our children on several, starting from when they were 9 - 13, to our last cruise 3 years ago when the youngest was 16, They all loved it, never saw them because they made so many friends, that they still keep in contact with today and the places they have been to and have seen gave them such a great experience of travel and different cultures. Lots of time to chill in the sun for you too0
