Fiat Punto Pop 1.2 (13 plate) - Warning sign
Hello,
Yesterday I was driving (in very heavy rain) home from work. Mid-journey the orange warning triangle flashed up on my dashboard along with the Stop/Start light. When I got home I turned the engine off and on again and the warning message cleared.
This morning after about 2 minutes of driving the lights came on again and I noticed a sound coming from the rear of the car when I was stopping at the lights - a sort of clunking sound. That only happened at the beginning of my journey for a mile or two (only when I was stopping) and then it didn't make a sound again after that.
Can anyone advise what the problem may be? Do I need to go to a garage urgently?
The vehicle is:
Fiat Punto (POP) 1.2 2013
40,000 miles on it.

What colour/shape is this 'Stop/Start light'? Do you mean the ignition light?0 -
It is the button next to the hazards button that lit up. It won't let me link you to an image!0
-
It is an 'S' with two arrows around it and a cross over it0

Sounds like it could be traction control to me which is most likely linked to the ABS, could be a sensor or something, definitely worth getting it checked at a trusted garage (NOT Kwik Fit, Halfords etc...)0

The warning light comes on and swithces off the S/S
"When the system is
switched off, “Start&Stop OFF” appears on the dashboard

Ok - could this be anything to do with tyres? Does this need urgent attention?0 -
A picture of the light would really help to be sure.
If it's TC/ABS related it could well be due to tyres, have you checked them all to see if any have a puncture?0 -

I have sent you a picture via private message (it won't let me on here because I'm a new user)
I will check my tyres once I finish work! One of my back tyres was lower than the others when I last put air in a week or two ago but now they all look even. Perhaps I do have a slow puncture. Would this trigger the light and cause a noise??0 -

The Fiat 500 Stop & Start System is now standard on the Fiat 500 Lounge and Fiat 500 Sport models fitted with the Blue&Me bluetooth feature. It’s available as an option on the Fiat 500 POP.
The Start & Stop system automatically stops the car’s engine whenever the car’s stationary e.g. in standing traffic. The system then restarts the engine automatically when the driver wants to proceed again.
The Start & Stop system is based on a starting system (battery and cranking motor) performing a faster engine restart with a higher number of restarts than in a normal system.
Several sensors and control mechanisms manage stopping and starting to ensure safety, driveability and energy balance of the car, without impacting the heating and air conditioning systems inside the car.
Engine Stopping- Manual Transmission – when the vehicle is stationary, the engine stops if the transmission is in neutral and the clutch pedal is released;
- Semi-Auto Transmission – The engine stops when the car is stationary and the brake pedal is pressed. It’s possible to keep the engine stopped without pressing the brake pedal by engaging neutral.
An “S” icon is visible on the instrument panel when Stop & Start is engaged (see image below).
Engine Restarting- Manual Transmission – the engine restarts when the clutch pedal is pressed;
- Semi-Automatic Transmission – if in neutral then the engine is restarted as soon as a drive gear is engaged; otherwise release the brake pedal.
- You need to read the manual.
