Welcome to the thread and I am so sorry to hear about your dad.
I agree about not bottling up your grief and being strong for everyone else as it will come back to bite you. Take good care of yourself.

Afternoon all
Congratulations HH on your retirement. I wish you lots of lovely things to do and trips out with time for family and friends.
Jenny welcome to you.
Well it's been a quiet day here. Nice to see the sun though. I got two loads of washing out thus morning, cleaned the bathroom and kitchen floor.....that's about it. Having a tired day.
DH has cut the back lawn for what he hopes is the last time this year. I am about to make us coffee and DH will have some of the Victoria Sandwich I made yesterday.
Dinner is fish, chips and mushy peas.
Just a quiet day in the life of two retired people.LOL
Have a good afternoon folks.

Welcome JennyP - a fellow Yorkshire person I see! So sorry to read about your dear dad. It's 38 years since I lost my lovely dad and I still think of him every day.
Nothing goes to plan does it! Not here anyway! This morning getting the 3 DGDs ready for school ended in total panic when we realised DD had not sent eldest a pair of trousers for school this morning! I should learn to check through the uniform bag when she leaves it with girls the evening before. That meant leaving even earlier to go to their house en route to pick up a pair of trousers for her to go to school in!
Got the Friday Tidy done this morning and then Mr TA suggested perhaps we should trim back the ivy growing along the back fence. I was going to attack the dead moss and algae covering the drive so that idea got shelved. He is not steady enough on stepladders with his neuropathy so guess who got the job of wielding the hedgecutter all along the top! Three hours later that "small" (!!) job is finished and the dead moss is yet to be removed! I have now collapsed and after my bad night's sleep I am ready for a nana nap methinks.
Take care folks if the wind and rain has hit you. It's due to arrive here this evening they tell us. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hi Chums and welcome JennyP, hope you enjoy our blathering
History was interesting especially with my friends OH who was a professional gardener for year at Hever Castle. He had a few anecdotes for us all.
DD is on her plane, and in transit to New York where my DGS and his wife will meet her and my son-in-law at JFK about 7.00p.m. their time around 11.pm our time. She is under strict instructions to give him a huge hug from his Granny
The bag of 'Making Miracles' squares were delivered this morning so I shall spend the next day or so sewing them together to make blankets for sale at the stall in the Medway Hospital.
Tomorrow night I am at another quiz for the Medway Round table where they are raising cash for the local wheelchair rugby lads. I shall make some sausage rolls to take for nibbles, and some cheese straws as well.
The storm is due sometime later today and its very dark and windy at the moment, so batten down the hatches chums and try to keep warm dry and safe
Cheers chums

Afternoon everyone and welcome to JennyP. :j
I had a busy morning starting with taking DM's heart monitor back to Stobhill for 8.45a.m. Then I took a trip to a large T*sco nearby and all of her shopping (and more) and fuel. Next to that is a L*dl so I popped in to see if they had any Christmas goodies in yet, and they did so I scooped up some as they go really quickly. They're now all tucked away in DM's kitchen for our 'Bunte Teller'.
Then I had to collect her medications from her local friendly pharmacy, found that one item wasn't there so had to ring the surgery and sort that out. The receptionist apologised and then phoned the missing item through to the pharmacy - DM will collect it tomorrow.
Eventually I headed home! Had a lovely dry and beautiful drive up the road, only one idiot to keep me focussed. Dropped into the country shop for bird peanuts, local pharmacy for my medication and then home.
My online spending spree has had results - the postie leaves my parcels in the big barn and there was a lovely pile. New printer (needed a duplex one), two second hand books, a new glass measure with handle and a couple of other things. All unpacked and ready to use. The printer is now in the utility room rather than upstairs in the bedroom and will be much more useful with the duplex facility, for me life is too short to stand in front of a printer turning single sheets of paper over.
Dealt with online stuff, emails and unpacking. Now sitting with the door open watching dusk descend gradually.
Happy evening to all! Friday night drinkies soon....:A0 -
Ly1a wouldnt settle last night as s.o. let a firework off at 11.15  I had to wait downstairs for ages until she thought the danger had passed
Then she barked at 6 this morning wanting to go out so I feel a bit tired.I need to look into getting some pills for her.Anyone have any success with a particular kind? Trouble is being a giant she needs a big dose
Other than that, see if you can contact Honey Bear who posts on the Flylady thread, she has a lot of experience with nervy dogs, and I'm certain would be glad to help.
