  • Morning all.

Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to Becky, Phoebe and anyone else in need.

I had a lovely time last night but only one glass of wine as I was driving, I had halloumi as my starter and could only eat half of it so I wrapped it up and brought it home, one of our group was convinced I'd be arrested for stealing,

I didn't get a lie in this morning, I was up at 5 with CHS to take him to work, I went from there to the shops and then home.

I've cleaned a boat this morning and now I'm going to have a nana nap and then I need to clean my boat.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Dullish at the moment, no laundry so it can rain if it wants to....think OH may end up in his man shed.

Hester, so glad you had a good time last night, we raised a glass to you, OH suggested sending you an email asking for 20,000 copies of a 100 page document.....I told him not to be facetious!! I am sure you will soon find things to occupy yourself.

I need to do the Friday clean, we have lit the fire two nights this week, so the grate needs cleaning out. Might manage without washing the kitchen floor today it is not too bad except in the door way, so I will just whisk a cloth over it once I have put the dyson over the floor.

Did any one watch the rich house poor house programme last night? It certainly made the rich chap think about their circumstances and also the time he spent with his children. What moved me to tears was that when they left to go back to their own home, they left a mobility scooter for the mother. It actually broke the rules of the programme, but I could not help feeling that it was so right for them to do it.

time to get my bum into gear.................

    ((((hugs)))) Silver-oldie.

Don't think I am going to get anything done now that little Miss is here. I've got baby in one arm dozing with one eye open and my phone in my hand playing games.

    Morning lovelies

Specky yes I often microwave soup straight from the freezer :)

Hester I always have a piece of tin foil or a ziploc bag in my handbag as its rare I can eat the whole lot when out for a meal. I end up with some lovely lunches the next day :) Last week I brought home half an enormous gammon steak and it fed me twice :) Learned this from my mum who has done the same for years ...I used to be mortified by her doing it :o not any more ...I have paid for it therefore its mine :rotfl: Hope you are still wallowing in the relief of no work :T

Finally got back from Bridgend after 7 hours of trains and changes and near misses across platforms. It was after midnight when i landed home so I dropped my case and went straight to bed! Back to driving for me

Saying that I am off to Glasgow today by train but its usually a relatively easy trip. This one is social as I have got discounted tickets for the Good Food show with a demo from John Tarode. Really love this show and will no doubt be temped by lots of treats along the way :o Heading up with my friend and we decided to stay for a couple of nights so will be hitting the sights of Glasgow later:)

Need to nip to the Asda and pick up some treats for the train and room soom then unpack and repack.

Youngest dd came home last night and stayed over and middle dd picked her up this morning and they are going to pick up a new car and do some shopping.

Older dd is celebrating her birthday with sisters and husband later and they are all staying overnight and possibly middle dd's boyfriend as well.

Nipping out later to get breakfast ingredients and fresh rolls etc and some large birthday wrap to finish a parcel . No idea who is going to be here when so just playing it by ear.

    Hester
So glad you are out of there :j

    silver-oldie

I hope you get a chance for a nap or a better night's sleep tonight.

Really want to hang out washing but forecast is for rain so not sure what to do.

    Hugs to all

    Hello,
I'm new. Been lurking for a few days but thought I'd pluck up courage to say hello.
I lost my dad two weeks ago and I have found some comfort somehow in reading this board. So thank you all.
Haven't attempted much old style thriftiness yet except for yoghurt making. Batch 4 yesterday and the first that seems edible.
Hester, congratulations on your retirement. Do you live on a boat? We do! Though hoping to move back onto dry land soon.

Big Welcome Jenny :T:T this is a great group to join everyone has a different story so theres always lots going on :)

I lost my dad back in May and my virtual friends here were amazingly supportive. You are in the very early days so make sure you are taking care of yourself not just everyone else ....I didnt and I regret that as the after effects are terrible :(

You are streets ahead of me by your venture into yoghurt making so let us know how it goes :)

    Morning ladies and Speky,

Silver oldie-sorry you had a bad night, hope tonight is better x

:T glad you had a good celebration, shame you still had to be up at 5.
Nelski- enjoy the show & Glasgow.I've been to a couple at Event City, not GF but a Cake & Bake, and an Ideal Home and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Judi- I looked after DGS yesterday as he was full of a cold and wheezy so I didnt get much done either.
Ly1a wouldnt settle last night as s.o. let a firework off at 11.15  I had to wait downstairs for ages until she thought the danger had passed ;) Then she barked at 6 this morning wanting to go out so I feel a bit tired.I need to look into getting some pills for her.Anyone have any success with a particular kind? Trouble is being a giant she needs a big dose :)

I want to do some baking later, not sure what yet. The work that DH & DS looked at yesterday has led to some for next week :j.Its a few miles North up the motorway, thats ok ,its when its going towards Manchester and the M60 that it takes ages.
Hope you all have a pleasant day, though the weather is grotty here.

    Morning all
JennyP hello it's nice to meet you. My condolences on the passing of your Dad. You will be in good company on here.
    NMLC thanks for the thread.
    Judi enjoy your break.
Hester how is your first day of retirement going. Well I hope.
Had a start this morning as I looked at the clock and thought I had missed the alarm . I got down stairs to find Mr Fix It making his breakfast ( he's an early riser ) and looking at me strangely. I had forgotten to reset my clock as Mr Fix It had switched the electric off yesterday while he fixed a light switch . Panic over.
Anyway fed DGC and took them to school, called in Drs to collect prescriptions and then went to town to the chemist to get them filled. Had a wander around the shops while we waited for the chemist to do his thing. (They always say there will be a 15min wait.)
Forgot to say that the son of elderly neighbour called round with 2 small boxes of chocolates from M&S. He wanted to thank us for looking out for his Mum, so that was nice of him.
The weather here is windy but dryish today, apparently we are having Storm Brian tomorrow so all necessary provisions of chocolate, cakes etc stored in readiness :rotfl:. We are battening down the hatches tonight.
Tea tonight will be jacket potato and something unlabelled from the freezer. I know it's meat based but could be a curry or casserole. As I have very little sense of smell it will be a suprise :rotfl:.
Well I suppose I must do something OS today, I have made a list to work through today and tomorrow. I think I'll have another coffee first though :).
Hope everyone has a good Friday and hugs to all.
