Morning everyone and happy last day to Hester :j

Foggy here but the dripping washing from the broken machine is on the line, hopefully it will dry enough before the rain comes to go on the airers inside.
Need to go shopping today and then its haircut time this afternoon, I do wish my hair wasn't so thick as it takes regular trimming and grows out rather than down!
Other than that not much planned, I picked up a pack of blue cheese in the co-op yesterday, reduced from over £3 to 75p and have found a recipe for butternut squash and blue cheese risotto so that's supper sorted.

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all,

Hester, thinking of you on your last day at the grindstone. Must be such a relief now the final day is here.

I'm going to clean the living room carpet today. I'd like to do upstairs too but the carpet cleaner is way too heavy for me to carry upstairs.

Just curious. Has anyone not got a freezer or just a tiny one? Just curious as to whether a whole food shop would last in just a fridge. I'm thinking meat more than anything else. Bread would have to be bought midweek and no frozen veggies.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning All

Damp here but not raining at present, I'm sure that will happen later!

Have a great day HH, must be a lovely feeling.

Had a lovely time in Inverness, such a lovely city. The weather was very kind, we went for a long walk yesterday to the botanic gardens (small but really good) and saw the original Monarch of the Glen that is at the art gallery - quite stunning. The train was on time but busy and hot, had to ask the guard to turn the heating down. Got home about 10, had a cup of tea and a shower and slept really well.

I may not eat for some time, we were very well fed at the hotel and didn't eat anything after a late lunch but did manage a glass of wine on the train!

Shopping to do this morning then will probably meet DD as it's her day off.

Have a good day, take care. XX
  • Morning all,

Like I promised myself, I behaved myself last night. My friend came round for a game of FIFA but we didn't finish up till 11.30 (well past my bed time).

I might be playing football tonight, I'm on call. Not really bothered either way. If I'm not, I'll re-paint another window ledge which needs it. Might even do some housework.

Having Brinner tonight (breakfast for dinner). Full Scottish with a healthy twist. Although I might not have haggis - damn.

Anyhoo - must get on with it.

Silver-oldie - I'm a big fans of sweets/cakes/desserts/sugar and I tried the chocolate pizza when it came out. I wasn't all that impressed but I enjoyed the novelty.
Judi - I put my whole weekly shop in the fridge but I plan my weekly shop so it only lasts me 7 days. My freezer is pretty empty actually.

Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to all those in need.
I'm posting from work, not supposed to but what are they going to do, sack me?.
Thanks for all your good wishes only 4 and a half hours to go!!!
Judi I have a tiny freezer, 26L capacity, I find it plenty big enough for us.
It currently holds a bag of chips, a bag of peas, bag of chicken wings pack of whitebait, Yorkshire puddings, garlic bread, minced beef, sausages, pork chops and a partridge in a pear tree. I could get more in there if needed.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Early start for us as DGS was up coughing at 2.30 and 6 when he decided to get up.He's very wheezy and snotty too so he can stay off nurseryschool today. His mum will finish early and pick him up at 2.30.
Dh and DS are going looking at some possible work this morning so fingers crossed.

Hester, hope you savour that feeling of walking away from that place for the last time this afternoon.Happy Retirement
Not much planned today,I was going to pick up a few bits but that can wait until tomorrow with DGS being here.Better get some tissues then as I bet he's spread his cold to us,some of his sneezes have been pretty explosive :( Even after years of working in schools and nurseries I never seemed to develop getting immune to coughs and colds like some did. That reminds me I had my flu jab done at Asd a earlier in the week -£5 not bad.So hope it stops any nasty flu bugs.
Hope you all have the best day you can xx

Good Luck Hester and enjoy your last day Retirement awaits and believe me you will probably be busier than at work but with the added bonus of doing what you damn well fancy which is really great.
Hope everyone has a good day its dry here at the moment but quite cloudy so I don't think we shall see any sun today.
Youngest DD arrived about 5 last night with my DGD in tow I haven't seen her for over 3 years and she is now married and 4 months pregnant. It was a bit of a quiet visit and I'm glad she is finally having a baby as its what she has always wanted but I just worry that she may flounce off again and break her mums heart again.I was friendly enough to her but it will take a long time to build bridges between us all. None the more for that she is carrying my gt grandchild and its not the babies fault. I think we shall have to take things quite slowly at first.DD looked so happy though as she will be a fantastic grandma, she is very maternal and has missed her DD for these past few years. I just don't want to see Dds bubble burst as my DGD can change like the wind at times, families eh ,no wonder I have a few more grey hairs :)
Today I have to portion up the meals that I batch cooked overnight in the slow cooker and top with cheesy mashed potato.5-6 ready meals to go back into the freezer once they have cooled down
Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing

    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Afternoon
I have just returned from cleaning at dads and I am having a quick coffee before collecting DGC from school. We had thick fog this morning and now we have persistent rain so we will probably get soaked picking up. Tea tonight will be sweet and sour pork which is in the slow cooker.
    Hester :j:j.
Hugs to all those who want or need one.

HH I wish you a long and very happy retirement. I know you'll still be doing other jobs but you'll be working without the nastiness and backbiting and to your own schedule. I'll have a G&T later to help you celebrate :rotfl:

Afternoon all, I went and had the dressing on my leg changed again this morning then I called on my cousin with some flowers as she's been a bit stressed lately. My cousin made me coffee so my planned batch cooking session started slightly later than anticipated. I've been given a dressing pack and I'm trusted to change my own dressing on Saturday to save me waiting in the walk-in centre (the nurse at my doctors looked at my leg and said "no thanks", understandable really as by then the tissue viability team was involved). I'm back at the hospital Monday morning though.

My sister in Ireland has had her power restored - it came back last night although some people are still without. It's also been raining there for 4 days (just arrived here too by the look of it) so now flooding is also affecting people who are already cold and without means of making hot food.

Lainey the House Troll's hair also grows straight up from his head. It's the absolute bane of his life.
