O/S Daily Thursday 19th October 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, damp underfoot but still not particularly cold.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, herby roasted potatoes and peas, tonight will be haggis, mash, carrots, broc and gravy.
Work yesterday was another all or nothing sort of day, now on days' off but working Saturday morning. I'll be endeavouring to get as much done today as possible.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
Thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Hester – enjoy your last day at work.
I do wish I didn’t keep having restless nights and waking up at 5.00am. I still feel rubbish from yesterday, and have had another bad night. I gave up and got up at 5.00am and have been reading since.
Yesterday was a wet and miserable day here, so I didn’t feel guilty about having an afternoon nap on the sofa after my bad night. I slept a lot better last night, although I was awake early at least I wasn't tossing and turning, so I’m hoping that I feel a lot more with it today.
I want to pop to Aldi shortly, it seems to get really busy on Thursday and Fridays after 9.00am and as I only need a couple of things I want to try and get in and out quickly.
There are some plans to make some major changes to our local park and the proposals are out for consultation so I want to go and have a look at those while I’m out. Someone also said that a long standing privately owned jewellery shop in town has got a closing down sale on as the current owner is retiring and I want to have a quick look in there and see if they have got anything suitable as a Christmas present for my niece. I think everything will still be too expensive, but there is no harm in looking.
Other than sorting out food there is nothing planned for today.
Hugs to those who are having a difficult time at the moment or are unwell.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A dry start here but sadly rain is forecast later this afternoon.
Another silly o'clock wakening for me. A lie in would be luxury these days. Never mind, it gives me chance to get organised before the DGDs need waking up too. It's middle DGD's birthday - 9 today - so she has requested a treat of waffles for breakfast. I had some in the freezer so they are defrosting in readiness.
They are back again tonight for late tea and another sleepover after their swimming/diving clubs and, of course, it will be the customary Thursday Pasta Bolognese Bake. Dare I make anything else for when they arrive "starving"!!
For the first time in weeks the Thursday shop will be on the correct day! So we will trip down to Aldi after the school run and I have done a quick tidy up. Still trying to stick to eating from the freezer so, hopefully, just fruit, veg and dairy stuff needed.
Last day for HESTER! Hope you have a grand departure planned as you walk out of the door for the last time!
Have a good day all and (HUGS) for the sad, worried and poorlies who want them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hester, I hope you have a good day today, try not to let the f***wits get to you.
TA happy birthday to your GD.
I woke at 5 which is most unusual for me, I'm a night owl nor a lark. I'm annoyed because we're off to the camper van show in Birmingham so it will be a long day and I'll be tired by the end of it, oh well, that's always the way.
Ziggypup has gone home at last, we'll miss her but I'm glad to get the living room back to normal (protective covers off the pale blue settee and no chewed bits of wood etc on the carpet every day, oh and the towe away from the french windows where she jumps in with wet feet). DS thinks we'll get our own dog but there's no way, I'm happy to share Ziggy, she'll be back again in a few weeks when DD and SiL go to his brother's birthday celebrations in Glasgow.
After a few hiccups it seems DS and DiL's house sale is making progress again, fingers crossed.
I'm hungry now so I'll go and forage for breakfast, banana on toast I think, some people think it's very weird but me and DD and DS all love it.0 -
Morning all
Hester happy last day I think I would be on a mega go slow all day, if the work is not done its not your problem :rotfl:
Off to work for me and its a manic day today with very loud clients, its a fun day though, I do love Thursdays.
Pizza and chips for dinner so nice and easy, need to do a wash too.
I caught up on the final of Liar last night and it was brilliant, such a good series :T
Right better get a move on have good days all xx0 -
Morning, quick hello before I go to work. I have a double quantity of chocolate cherry brownies to take to the office, it was a triple quantity until those two get at them after I went to bed. I knew they would, that's why I made such a lot. They are usually gone in a flash at work.
It is gloomy today, just getting light now but soggy. The forecast is gloom and doom too. With added dismalness.
I've been up since 4, I needed the loo and once I am awake, I can rarely get back to sleep so I've done some knitting, a tiny jumper 1.5 inches in length. And watched a Night at the Opera with Lucy Worsley, at least that's what I think it was called.
Must get off, hope you all have a good day and that Hester's last day is memorable for good reasons.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Thank you nmlc for starting us off.
Hester, hope you have a good day today
TA happy birthday to your GD.
Decided life is what it is, not what I would have wished for but I need to make the best of every day.
Made jam from lots of small packs of fruit in the freezer, really pleased with myself making space in the freezer and then when to Mr T's for a few essentials. Came home with lots of reduced price ice cream, still at 24p a pack of 8 mini type cornetto, 28p tubs of ice cream and a chocolate pizza ?? DH was happy.
Hope you All have a good day.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Good morning lovelies
Hester Enjoy your final day and walk away with a huge smile on your face. Cant help but feel a tad envious but I do enjoy my work and that makes a big difference. Knowing you though you will be grafting 23 hrs day before he ink is dry on your cards
In the training room today which conveniently is at my hotel so I will head for a leisurely breakfast in a while then on with the day. Train back home tonight which will be less leisurely no doubt and its quite late getting back.
Right should get dressed I guess I dont think dressing gowns would go down well in the breakfast room
Have a lovely day all :A0 -

Hester Have a good day, I've put wine in the fridge for a big celebration when you walk out of that door for the last time
Mr tru appeared to be helpful the other day, he was rummaging through the freezer in the shed yelling 'Do you need anything from out here – bread? rolls? veg?' etc. I answered 'no....no...no....' Then he rummaged for a few more minutes. When the shopping arrived, I realised what he'd been doing – trying to make room for the curries that were on offer in Morrisons. He bought loads (must change my password on that account!) and there wasn't room for them. I piled them all up and left them for him to sort out, there was no way he was going to squeeze them all in so I think he'll be eating them for the next few days, before they go offInstructed him to 1. Check there's room for extra things first and 2. The cupboards and freezers are full of ingredients to make your own. We even grow some of the ingredients in the garden. Gggrrrrr.
Day to myself :j Upstairs is clean and tidy, I'm going to hoover and dust downstairs and put a few stray things away, then work for an hour. I'll have an early lunch so I have more of the afternoon to do whatever I want – not sure what yet but I'm sure I'll think of something

Morning everyone.
Think it’s danp in Glasgow, haven’t looked yet. I don’t have curtains in my bedroom at home so I can see the sea, here there are blinds.
The drive down yesterday was fine, went to the tip on the way and did a little bit of shopping. I was quite overcome with a wave of tiredness so went to bed really early though I watched an episode of Sherlock on my tablet.
JL sent a text last night confirming delivery between 11.39 and 13.39 and they’ll phone when 30 minutes away. So glad it’s not earlier.
Happy Thursday and happy last day to Hester.0 -
