OK, it works but does not show readings from the smart meters.

You have changed suppliers. Change back to the supplier that installed the meter and all will be well. Or alternatively, wait until suppliers roll out firmware updates for your meter and all should be well again. With a fair wind, this should happen by 202........

Suppliers have a Licence requirement to read all meters once a year so billing should not really be an issue.
They have an "obligation " to "try " and take a yearly reading. That is different from actually getting into the property and having a good look at the meters.
Most utility companies have given up sending meter readers out , because it hits their profits, so they just dont bother and OFGEM are nt concerned neither if no one looks at meters in a decade never mind once a year.
If we actually got into properties to check utility meters once a year, the massive home cannabis growing market which runs into billions would be ended. Likewise the £500 million lost to fiddlers and energy thieves around the UK.
This is the UK and we don t give a monkeys about people committing crimes.
Hengus you need a lesson in reality. You seem to possess a quaint image of the UK which is set back around 1950 when Plod actually did their job by and large

But I have a smart meter, BG supplied it, but because I changed to Bulb the IHD no longer works.

Don't worry, I can get my great grandson to go outside to read the meter when necessary, I was being sarcastic in my OP and to Robisere, he's not the only person in the world who is disabled.

In answer to both your responses:
I have sympathy for your disability, but no respect for your opinion that I am " not the only person in the world who is disabled " That's a pretty cynical POV. I am 71 and have both legs, but they do not work as they should, due to a broken vertebra. I have several other disabilities, so does my wife, but will not bore you with them.

I should not have put my point across as I did, without considering the possible reasons why others cannot read their meters. I apologise for that, it was unthinking. However, you are guilty of the same fault, in not considering others and their disabilities.

My point is that I can and do read my meters, despite my own problems. I recognise that you cannot, and I am pleased that your grandson helps you in that regard.

Please examine the relationship between sarcasm and wit.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
