When searching on Autotrader, for just hatchback search,

when searching, have been entering the same
year,
engine size,
amount of doors 5
millage
and the majority of other features the on the filters have been kept same.

when comparing the prices of a Peugeot 207 compared to Seat Ibizas, Vaxhall Astras, Polos, Ford fiestas,
(with the above bold details the same)

then the price of the P 207 seems to be on average upto £700- 1000 cheaper?

what could typical reasons for this be?

Because they're French... What is the difference to the equivalent Citroen? (which will be identical bar body panels and interior trim)

The Peugeot 106 was a nice looking car and typically cost more than a Fiesta.
In the mid naughties all cars started looking stupid. The 207 is no exception. It's a very, very, very ugly car. Even uglier than the fiesta.
Also a LOT of people bought them. There are thousands to choose from on autotrader. So prices are lower
Luckily in the mid teens they started making cars that look good again.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Because Peugeot appear to subsidise their cars to get sales, look at their dealers they always have big offers and cheap deals even on brand new or pre-registered cars, people think they are getting a good deal despite them being French and losing their value quickly.

This is very true and especially so in smaller cars, around that time the manufacturers started giving the front of their cars big googly eyes and stupid grins.

Still see Peugeot 106s and Citroen Saxos knocking about, so they can't be totally bad.
Mate's family have run several 206s and 306s which have been OK.
They're cheap. A good "MSE" thing in this case surely?

and in the case of old XUD engined ones, tough.

I tried killing my Partner Van twice with wrong/bad fuel and it still lived.

But a LOT more people bought Fiestas. That's why they've consistently been no 1 in the sales charts, when Peugeot struggle to get into the top 10. Ford generally outsell Peugeot 3 to 1.

If Pugs outnumber Fiestas in the 2nd-hand market, it must be because many more Peugeot owners want rid. Does that not tell you something?
