Should I get fibreoptic BB and should I switch from BT?

I have been on BT a couple of years and receive the landline, normal speed BB (about 12mp download speed) and the sports channels. I usually end up paying about £65 for the lot, mainly cos I didn't cancel the free sports channels and now pay for them.
I am not a heavy user in terms of downloads, I live by myself download the odd album but don't play games or download films. I have recently bought a Firestick though for watching streams, is it advisable to get a speed upgrade for this? They've offered me a new deal for what I currently get at about £45 per month, is that reasonable? I would have signed up, but unsure if I need the faster speed? Should I pay another £15-20 just to get fibreoptic?

If it's just you and a firestick then the 12Mbps is plenty. The only thing you need to consider is your monthly download limit and whether it will be enough for the streaming that you plan.0

It doesn't sound like you need the extra speed of fibre. I recently switched from 52Mbps fibre to standard 20Mbps broadband and rarely notice any difference.
The current Plusnet offer equates to £12.33 per month for line rental and broadband https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband#plusnetbb BT owns Plusnet of course.
Not sure how it would affect your sports channels, so check on that if you still want them.0
