Good morning all.
The storm was ferocious all night, the battering on the house kept waking me up. I’m right on the coast so was expecting it. Read on FB that tree fell and bkocked the road at the Oyster Bar about an hour after I passed through. Haven’t heard yet of any damage as I’m stillunder my duvet still.
After my day yesterday I was very tired, I find that just hanging about waiting is much worse than being active. I spent the day driving or sitting in the (lovely) cafe at the Beaston reading. The Ann Cleeves book The Glass Room is so well written I’m really enjoying it.
Today will be a day of quiet and rest. I’m back down to Glasgow for DM tomorrow so will spend my day doing some marking and planning. Nothing too taxing.
Hope you all have a happy, safe and warm Tuesday.0 -

SPECKY It entails various ladies selling expensive items in the hope we will all buy our Xmas gifts from them! Morning everyone,
Bright and just breezy here today but much colder, like others it went really dark yesterday afternoon with an orange sky, it was so dark had to put a lamp on.
I have a pile of ironing to get through after clearing the laundry basket and then Pilates at midday, have taken a pack of rtc meatballs out of the freezer so will do those in a spicy tomato sauce with perhaps cauli rice.
Thoughts are with all those with troubles, Cranky think that is a thoughtful and practical way of helping your friend.
Gers That Ann Cleeves book is on my list.
Have a good day folks and take care x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Marie I hope you are safe.
The sky turned a very funny colour yesterday afternoon, then the wind came, not too bad really, the big pot of geraniums went over again and the dustbins have shifted, apart from that not much damage as far as I can see.
I slept ok last night, but feel so tired again this morning. OH seems to be ok, he is wanting to get out into the garden, so he can get on with it, afraid I am just going to sit.
DD1, SIL and the newly weds are in Manchester they are flying to mexico, I think they are nuts taking a baby on a 10 hour flight. Not keen on the destination either, but its their choice.
Laundry to go out on the line, we still have a breeze, so it should dry ok.0 -
Good Morning chums, all's well in north kent and I have had a message from my niece in Cork to say her and the children are all Ok ,although the kids pony got free from the stable and shot out into the adjoining field ,just as well as part of the stable/horse shed is a bit precarious at the moment But horse and dogs are fine .The kennel ended up in the farmers field up the road. She said he house smells wonderful as they used lots of her scented candles when the ordinary ones were used up Her power is still off though but at least the wind has dropped considerably It was her DDs 15th birthday yesterday as well and the poor lass didn't get her cake (no power to cook it ) But I'm sure she will get one by the weekend .
Hope Meanmarie is OK and safe as I think she lives in Galway.
Well I am having a bit of a restful day today as I am at DDs while my gardener lays some new turf for her and I am here to keep the dogs from getting too worked up over a stranger being in the garden :)So I shall do a bit of knitting a bit of reading and a bit of surfing the net :)Tonight is Quiz night so I'm off out to that
Hope the rest of you are safe and well
Cheers chums

There must have been quite a wind last night as the plastic recycling was blown out of the box. Sorted it out as the recycling is being picked up later this morning.
Still quite windy so staying in till later this afternoon when I will pop out for some milk and bread. Someone is coming to help with the garden later so will make sure I am changed by then.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Morning all,
beautiful sunny day here. A bit blowy like AOD said but nothing major.
Not a lot to do today but i'm sure i can find something to do. Window in the home office needs cleaning but i'll break my neck!
Grumpless called me earlier, it took him ages to get to work this morning due to trees felled in the storm. Still smiling he is, he's now got a 4 wheel drive.
Youngest messaged me earlier, he is number one on the weekly apprentice earnings board at work for last week. I'm glad, most of his money is spent keeping his car paid for and insured. Its a hard life (so he says).
My daughter posted this on her Facebook this morning. A conversation between her and 'Livewire' before school....
Onwards and forwards,

Is it ok if I join you?
Pickle was so concerned yesterday as he’d heard about a hurricane, when the sky went yellow and stayed eerie for a few hours he was most distressed. Grateful we didn’t really have much wind. I hope everyone else is safe and well.
Today is quite chilly. Still no heating on though.
I have made raisin and apricot flapjack this morning, it doesn’t matter what i do i just never succeed in getting it right!
I am supposed to be doing housework but I’m in a baking sort of mood so trying to think up some ideas using up what we have in the house. I’m going to go an look through the recipes on here in a minute and see what i can come up with.
I’m doing a use up what you have challenge with a friend and am resisting the urge to go to the shop to buy yeast and oil. I need to start getting very creative!
We have parents evening tonight (first one ever) and I’m meeting a friend later tonight, was supposed to be at a pub but now at a coffee shop. I’m quite looking forward to that as i dont ever go out of an evening.
Hubby brought me back a bread maker from someone at work yesterday, they’d heard mine had broken and didn’t use theirs so I’m dying to use it but dont have the ingredients in lol.
Hope everyone has a lovely day xEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
Hello all
Chirpychick welcome . A free breadmaker :T.
I hope everyone is safe and well this morning. We had some wind during the night as someone has left out the wrong recycling and it's strewn all over the road. It is not being picked up either  . I cleared up a triangular pillow from the middle of the road early this morning when the DGC arrived.
Both DGC fed and taken to school and I went to town to have our BSoc books updated. Then swung round to Morries for a coffee before venturing into the shopping aisles. Only needed milk and fruit for us but DGC have put in their order for pancakes for tomorrow morning, so bought some. Not very OS but I don't have time to make them fresh in the morning. Our DGC seem to be eating us out of house and home at the moment, as my Mum would say " it would be cheaper to keep their pictures on the wall ! " We will pick up from school later and they are staying for tea again as DD has a meeting, so we are having hot dogs. I also bought them a chocolate toffee apple each. DGD has a spelling test today and DGS is also collecting his recorder. Oh joy, a concert of squeaking recorder tonight ! :rotfl:
I will ring dad tonight for a check in and make a date to finish off the cleaning. He also has a broken step so Mr Fix It will replace that too if the weather allows.
Right off to empty the DW and get a snack lunch.
Silveroldie sorry that you are not sleeping very well. I hope things improve soon.
Judi :rotfl: at livewire.
Hugs to all

Afternoon all,
Hope everyone is safe and well, especially Marie in Ireland but I suppose she may well have no internet.
Hello and welcome Chirpychick - Ihave been reading your redundancy thread and following some of the ideas.Although not facing redundancy things are very tight for us at the moment as DH and DS who work together (self employed business) have had very little work coming in over the last couple of monthsSome creative menus going on in this house using up what I have. Its a depressing state of affairs and no mistake but we are trying to keep our spirits on an even keel.
I went out yesterday afternoon with an old neighbour who wanted a wander in town, rather than coming here as she often does.I grabbed some loose change from the pot and found 3 old pound coins-thought we'd sorted them all.Read online that pound land were still accepting them till the end of the month so we popped in there and I got coffee and milk.My friend treated me to a nice coffee and cake (I got them last time we were out) and we had a good chinwag. Also called in at Sainsbugs on the way home.Since we moved I dont tend to use it much.I used some Nec tar points to buy quite a bit of YS stuff which is now in the freezer. So all in all a good :money:afternoon.
There was a big bough from an oak tree down in the park but apart from that it seemed ok.Still windy but some sunny spells now.
DH has been requesting flapjacks so will make some in a bit and I want to finish my book too.Stay safe everyone xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
