O/S Daily Tuesday 17th October 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost for tonight, so we'll be having chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, mash, carrots and gravy.
Work yesterday was another strange day, it started off very quiet almost dead in fact then was all or nothing but mostly all - and was like it for the rest of the day. I was doing the other job in an office on my own in the afternoon and was kept really busy, but I prefer that.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
The storm wasn't too bad here, well it didn't keep me awake anyway. There has been rain all night but that's normal for here!
I'm going to Inverness today until tomorrow with a work friend, we got a good deal on rail tickets and a hotel, just hoping it stops raining long enough to see the city.
Nothing of note happening here, hope you are all safe and well, especially thinking of meanmarie and Gers during this bad weather.0 -
Morning everyone
Thank you for starting us off nmlc.
I hope that you have all come through the storm ok.
It looks like the weather is turning a lot colder here now. The temperature has dropped considerably compared to the last couple of days, but I want to hold out on putting the heating on for more than an hour in the morning and evening for a bit longer.
I’m going to the hospital with my neighbour this morning. I’ll take a book as last time she saw this consultant they were running nearly an hour and a half behind.
Other than this nothing planned for today, so hugs to those who are having a difficult time at the moment or are unwell.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing0 -
Morning all, I hope everyone in storm-affected places is still in one piece.
We had a very sullen-looking sky yesterday with blowy winds and a spot of rain. Not a lot much more than that here in the Midlands though I haven't heard the news programmes yet. It was so warm though, really quite odd. It is still windy this morning but a lot chillier, the forecast from the met office is good though. It is getting light and I can see the clouds whooshing past.
I worked at home yesterday and managed to get through a load of paperwork, well report writing really. I have to produce mahoosive long reports. More of the same today.
I am still resisting the siren lure of the central heating but not sure how long for, am struggling with the washing. I really should have put some outside yesterday but I was convinced that it would rain. I am a tally quite cold now, I've even put my slippers on and a woolly cardigan. More layers needed but I look like a Michelin man.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning :hello:
I kept an eye on the news yesterday – I hope you're all safe xx
I wasn't expecting a change in weather much, just some wind. But the sky was a weird shade of yellow, then changed to a very dark yellow and by 12pm it was really dark and I had to put the lights on. I went outside with a cuppa and just watched the sky, lol. The chickens hid under the bushes for most of the day and Scampi refused to set foot outsideI had a phone call mid-morning from someone in Tetbury, telling me to go out and look at the sun, it's a fabulous colour, but it was too cloudy here. By mid-afternoon it was sunny (normal yellow colour!), then it was really windy for the rest of the day. This morning it's calm.
The shopping is being delivered mid-morning and mum is popping round at some point. I need to do a bit of work today, it'll only take about 30 minutes. I've finished my blanket, just need to do a border along the two sides – it's a ripple and I don't like to square it off at the top and bottom, so it won't take long.

Morning all.
I do hope everyone is safe and well this morning, particularly thinking of meanmarie who is in the path ot the storm I think, hope you are ok x
We had the weird sky too I was at lunch at 2.30 and sitting out in the clients garden at work, I was alone and it was almost dark and very still as the birds had gone to bed, it was very strange indeed.
Off to work again today, dinner tonight will be some salmon and dill parcels which I got in Mr T with some new pots and veg, really looking forward to it.
Will do another wash tonight as when transferring dd's clothes over from old to new wardrobe we found a load of things that needed freshening up so we are slowly working through them.
Right better get on stay safe everyone xx0 -
Morning everyone
Very very windy here all night....blowing right on my bedroom window so kept me awake a lot. Still as bad this morning....wish I didn't have to go out!
Take care everyone0 -
Good morning all. My sister and family in the west of Ireland are safe and well. The camping stove cooked 2 lbs of sausages, 1 lb of bacon, 2 black puddings and half a dozen eggs so they went to bed fed and warm. The storm was starting to calm down by the time I had the last message from her at 10pm but they are still without power.
It's a busy day for me today. I am taking a friend grocery shopping this morning. She's a bit down in the dumps as her brother died recently and she isn't feeling like company so small things are good - I'll wait in the car with my knitting while she shops. It's the best way I can think of to show her that her friends are there for her without being too much in her face.
After that I have to go and have the dressing on my leg changed, then it's into town to collect new school bags from the uniform shop for the HT and his friend (long story). This evening the HT has a form tutor evening which means that I have to go and see his form tutor for 10 minutes. I'm not entirely sure how useful this will be in the grand scheme of things bit it's best to show willing, sigh.
I heard a crash about 2am but it doesn't seem to have been anything of ours. I wedged the wheelie bins behind the car once I'd retrieved the wondering one from the other end of the drive last night and they are still there and still standing. I hope that you're all well and safe too.0 -
Good morning,
Hope everyone is ok after the storm.
Haven't slept well for a few nights and feel exhausted before I start the day.
Nothing much planned. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks I hope you are all safe and well, especially MARIE as Ireland really suffered. We still have a grey sky and the wind doesn't seem to have eased at all yet. The forecast here is for it to ease as the day goes on with sunny spells and the sky is certainly looking brighter on the skyline already.
I wouldn't be venturing out today but I have a much needed hair appointment. I have to keep my hair short as it has no natural body and just doesn't hold a style. Unless I am forever hot brushing it's easier to have it short and a bit spiky.
Tonight my DD is having a Christmas gift ideas party. Sadly it's all quite expensive stuff so I doubt I shall be buying much. I shall pop down for an hour or so but hoping my purse stays shut!! The one person that might lead me astray is an aromatherapy lady but it's expensive stuff and I shall try and steer away from her wares!
Have a safe day folks if the gales are still with you and (HUGS) for the sad, worried or poorly who want them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Nearly got blew away when I walked outside to the car this morning. In fact, the wind woke me up at 3am but I soon nodded off again.
I actually played football last night as the storm was approaching. It wasn't as bad or dramatic as it sounds, I think the saying, "the calm before the storm" was ringing true.
I've actually no plans for this evening, apart from the GBBO - of course. Not sure what to get up to.
TA - What does an Xmas git idea party entail?0
