Stolen debit card used with pin
Comments
-
Card had been used by chip and pin realised it was lost around 11 am in the morning reported it as soon as I knew but by then the damage had been done. The police have sent a police report to the bank and I've complained about the decision the bank made last week to not be reimbursed so what happens from here? The police report favoured me over the banks decision.
Also I don't suspect it was somebody I know I was only with one person the whole night and the bank card had been used over the counter in another branch in another town!0 -
During my complaint I asked why the fraud department hadn't blocked it when in the morning id been receiving texts from themselves at 1.45 asking me to phone and confirm certain transactions. And from 8-9 am they'd tried to contact me 3 times. And at 10-11 am the major transactions took place inside two separate branches in two different towns they obviously drove from one to another. If only id awoke an hour earlier the damage on my card wouldn't of been as major.
Just hoping the police report the bank asked me to get covers me which the officer sounded like he did think I should be reimbursed0 -

Okay I did what the bank asked me to do last week which was to get a police report so fingers crossed. If only id of woken up earlier id of seen the calls and text during the night!0

Problem is, the police haven't investigated, and whatever the officer who took your statement said, is just his opinion, and relies solely on what you have told him.
If you believe you were shoulder surfed or something similar, have you no idea where this could have happened?
In your op you said you were guessing, and it also leaves the question of how someone managed to get their hands on your card without you realising?0 -
I didn't have my card in the morning and im almost positive now I got pick pocketed or something after using the cash machine in which I didn't notice at the time until I've seen the damage done in the morning without my card being in my pocket.
The fraud department did suspect unusual activity throughout the night as well.0 -
And I have an idea were it was yes the last machine in which I use. But I hadn't noticed until I look at my balance online in the morning I'm which I then immediately phoned the fraud deprament.
Just unusual as to why they hadn't already blocked my card imagine if this was somebody elderly who didn't have a mobile phone?0 -
The only text alerts I've ever had, gave me the option to stop a payment by "contacting them Immediately" - if they don't hear from you, they allow the payment to be made. AFAIK that's the default.
They gave you a chance(s) to stop the payment(s), you didn't.
It's just an extra layer, but it's not, and never can be foolproof, without causing sever disruption.
They know when the text has been delivered to your phone and if you don't respond, they allow the transaction.
Can you imagine what it would be like if the bank waited for everyone to authorise each and every transaction?imagine if this was somebody elderly who didn't have a mobile phone?
They may decide to refund after they've investigated, but you seem to be clinging to what the police said, and also trying to blame the bank.0 -
But they didn't allow a payment at quite a few machines in fact. It says cash withdrawal reversal on my statements on like at least 7 attempt I'm not even sure what that means?0
-
They tried a number of machines In which the transaction for reversed it's only when they have gone into the branch the damage has really been done0
