Which broadband provider should I use?

Just moved into a new property and ive been told by IFNL that the only broadband & phone providers available at my address are....

See the Light
Vfast Internet
Pure Broadband
Direct Save Telecom
Love your Broadband

I’ve never heard of any of these companies as I’ve always used BT. Recommendations please on who are good and who to avoid. Thank you

I'm assuming this is a new build on a new housing development?

According to another forum all those names resell IFNL so its the same product in different packaging.

A post on the same forum suggests:
For new housing developments all land is private until the roads are adopted by the local authority and this typically takes 2 years after the completion of the site. Only when the roads are adopted can other Service Providers such as BT or Virgin then elect to dig to properties. The Service provider electing to dig would typically only do so if there was a commercial business case to warrant the expense.

You can try bashing your details into Sam Knows @ https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker though whether you'd be able to get anywhere due to the above quote I couldn't say.
  • Thanks for your reply. I have already done all the checks and found i can only use one of the 5 companies listed above.
Yes it is a new build and it was IFNL who gave me the list of providers.
BT confirmed that they can’t provide which would of been my first choice.
What im wanting to know is if any of these 5 providers are any good, as it seems if I want broadband then I’m going to be stuck with one for at least a couple of years and I dont want to get caught into a long contract that I can’t get out of, only to find the service/coverage is awful.

I would go with the one with the shortest contract .

Well if they're all the same network in different packaging then as above get the one with the shortest contract and then hope that BT will come along with a telegraph pole at some point. About all you can do I think in this situation.
  • The infuriating thing is BT supply the village I live in but not on the New Housing estate.
Thank you for your advice anyway

Why not ask BT how much they will charge to supply you .

Indeed. Surely, under the terms of their USO, they have to provide you with a basic telephone line?
  • I have spoken to BT several times as i previously had phone, broadband & tv with them and I thought I’d be able to move their services from my old address to my new address but they eventually informed me that they couldn’t supply to my new address. This has come from Openreach and it seems there is nothing I can do expect use a different provider.
But none of the providers I can use have very good reviews according to google so hence why I came on here for advice and to see if anyone had actually used any of them.
I think I’m just going to have to give one a go and see what happens.

It's not that uncommon for developers to sign up with an alternative provider to BT/Openreach and effectively lock out all other providers.
Until the roads and footpaths are adopted by the council, Openreach have no right to touch what is still private property, it could even be the case that even after the council adopts the road and paths that access may still be difficult for OR if there is covenants or the lease holder says OR cannot provide service ( regardless of any universal service obligation USO)
