Have you made up your mind yet?
I love cooking for people (read showing off) :rotfl:
Hi Smlsave,
We're doing Italian this evening. Family birthday. Guests have not long arrived - there's 6 in total.
Proper dinner party stuff, denby, posh wine glasses etc. I've just popped on the computer to do an A4 menu, starter, 3 mains, desserts, coffee and mints, so the works.
The bulk is pre-prepared, so just need the finishing off to be done now. Go to go...

Flexi hours are 07.30 to 18.30. I try to get in early each day, so I can have tea / spend time with the kids on an evening.
Work, I'm pretty much left to manage my own time / workload with the projects I have on and it's a pretty relaxed environment. A good manager always helps.
So, it's not always just about the money...
FB.
I agree about comment on being home for family meal, that's why I get up at a somewhat early hour and leave the house by 0600 so I can be home for an evening meal togther. I don't get flexitime so do my stanadrad 7.25hr day plsu the extra that professionals "should" work, early enough that I can get home for 1730 or so.
Salary is definitely not the be all and end all, far from it; job satsfaction and enjoyment count for a lot too, something I found when I was 27 and have stuck by since! I've chosen so far not to chase larger salary (>40% more would not be difficult to get in Aberdeen for example) as I would need to spend more time working(!), plus larger mortgage etc and being so close to MF date, that is not something I'd take on lightly. I've seen the light and want to get out of the tunnel :rotfl:0 -
It's funny how you accept that as you are a professional, you should work unpaid overtime.
It's something that we (as nurses) often comment on. We do a lot of extra ie. missing breaks or staying a little bit later than we should but we have a 24 hour shift system. Unless there is an emergency there is not any real need for us to stay late.
We are all quite harsh and say- No, sorry, it's my time now, I'm not being paid so I'm off.
We are always telling the Doctors that they should be more firm and say no to overtime.
It seems to be an inbuilt thing in Britain today that industry the world over expects us to work for free (while they collect their large bonuses- hmm!).

Italian - yum yum
Hope it went well and everyone had a good time.
I'm still praying that the recession goes away next year although I know it could possibly last for much longer.

Hi Smlsave,
Meal was good. No cooking disasters. Used up some remainder today and also froze one pasta sauce, and blended another for the kids tea this evening, so nothing went to waste.
Recession. Was reading an article earlier on a 0% base rate scenario to kick start the economy. Normally I guess this would not happen, but we're seeing extraordinary financial events, so I guess this needs extraordinary solutions.
Presumably savings rates would also plummet in line with base rates, as would standard variable and tracker mortgage rates. People such as myself on a fixed mortgage rate of 4.79% - not a particularly high rate taking into account historic rates, could well be left high and dryon a "high" mortgage rate.
I suspect the economy won't recover until 2010 at the earliest. We're only just entering the pain / slow down, and I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.
Already got midday on 6th November pencilled in to see what the BoE rate setting committee come up with.

I've today pre-ordered a copy of Motorstorm 2 - Pacific Rift. The RRP is 44.99 - I've spent some time researching the various prices / discount offers and got the game at 32.99, with a 3.00 credit that I can use as a discount off further games from that retailer. This was actually better value than a cashback offer, eg Quidco.
Due for release on Friday 7th November, hoping I'll get it on the 7th or very soon after, via mail order - on-line purchase of course.
Ordered today, as my credit card statement was yesterday. Bill should now turn up on the November CC statement and will have until about 22nd December to pay for it.

Anyone noticed that the times for items you post are off - I posted that yesterday @ 11.32pm - instead of being shows as Tuesday, it's shown as "today", ie Wednesday

I'm on a fixed rate too, at least I know what's going out every month - its what I tell myself when they talk about rates dropping! Are you fixed for long?I suspect the economy won't recover until 2010 at the earliest. We're only just entering the pain / slow down, and I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.
2010 nots too bad. Its definatly the gas, electric and petrol that's got me the most worried.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

It shows as 11.32pm on mine - you need to change your settings to account for the clocks going back.
As for Motorstorm 2 - boys and their toys. You could get a nice handbag for that money
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I believe that most mortgages have a collar - i.e. a rate below which they cannot fall.....but not mine;) I have a woolwich tracker and apparently it has no collar
0% - wouldn't that be financial bliss:D I can dream....:A0
